  • Looks the same as the DMR ones but with a different branding. I hear they are not very good. The type with a spring and jockey wheel, like surly (I haz) are supposed to be a lot better.

4 Jeri Tensioner is the best IMO, I been abusing one for 4 years now on my single speed, and it is a little rusty but it keeps going ... unfortunately not like the rear wheel that looks like a pringle at the moment.

  • yeah but they stopped making them 4 years ago too

  • I made that up,
Surly does me, and DMR,and Alfine, and fixing the chain on so its the right tension otherwise known as bastardising it.

  • Yes Surly works but it cost £50, where as the 4 Jeri is just as good and costs £15.. But you lost your temper on the dorset dirt ride and wouldn't listen to my recommendations. So much for being calm and peaceful and zen and all that wank.

  • Was it £50?! I thought it's something like £30-35.

  • haj, because your bike is quite classic looking, i think these would look good on it:

feel free to ignore me though"!

  • I am ignoring you... :)

  • I think I need to fix this.
So after stepping in to a giant pile of dog shit and getting it all over my cleats and pedals this happened. Otherwise, a really nice ride along the lee to waltham abbey. It sucked riding home pedaling by half turns.

It's a stronglight crank so I will have to get one of the nice forum memebers with a french crank puller to let me borrow it.
Im not pissed about the crank but I really liked that chainring.

  • My last project:

    first i was like:

    but then

before you start your critics, know that 90% of parts (everything except chain and grips) was found at the street, recycled from old broken bikes which nobody cared about.
main purpose for this bike is snowy streets and riding/running with my dog on the beach :)

    Perfect for what you need

  • Was it £50?! I thought it's something like £30-35.

still like over twice the price.

  • Phew. I bought a supposedly 27" wheel on here that turned out to be a 700c. grrr. Case of blind leading blind I think.

Anyway, the back wheel on my bike is a 27" rigida chromalux (with new track hub).
so today I managed to turn up a front 27" original raleigh wheel in chrome to match it in the belfast bicycle workshop.

Problem was it was literally orange with rust, but 4 hrs later with steel wool and shes almost good as new with tyre fitted and matches the back wheel perfectly, Im knackered though lol.

Just need to fit chain, buy a front brake and some toeclips and I'm done.

    good build day though :)

p.s casp that bike is stunning. dapper.

You've either got some sort of metal boring insect problem, or some fucker drilled lots of little holes in it. No wonder it broke. Get a nice fresh new one.

  • aye up fuckers!
im back from reading, who missed me eh?

  • jebus ^^ what kind of dog was it that 'laid the egg' that did that to your chainring?

  • found this two days ago in metal scrap dumpster... 110mm rear spacing so I'm guessing some singlespeed city project... more: http://foundbikes.posterous.com/found-318-scrap-metal-dumpster

  • That's design for an internal hubs, you could always put says, a 3 speed coaster hubs on it.

  • yeah I know... was thinking about it, but I prefer simplicity -> singlespeed hub with feetbreak. And just got one wheel laying here too (also from street :)). But the stem seems quite stuck and don't know what to do (tried wd40 + hammer so far). And maybe can somebody tell me what to do with bottom bracket (haven't seen this type before) -> it's in the link.

  • Undo the bolt a bit, leave allen key in the bolt, then wack hammer on allen key.

that if the wedge is stuck and refuse to move.

  • There's no bolt anymore, tried with another one, but it seems that it's too "out" of the frame, it cannot reach the wedge. I heard that boiling water can help maybe?

  • search for 'stem stuck' on this forum, you'll be able to find more tips and suggestion.

  • I really liked that chainring.

    Me too.

  • put the decals on today, such a satisfying procedure when it goes right. i will upload pictures when i get to my own computer. got all of Tel's groupset looking shiny and lovely on it also.

C'mon Miller it's gotta be done by now!!! I wanna see it.

  • With the stuck stem, I suggest you try putting a wheel in and bars and use them for leverage before anything more drastic.

  • Olly's ride
