I don't get all this 'functional' bike stuff, they all have racks and mud guards on. That type of bicycle wouldn't be very functional if I wanted to take it on the track or offroad would it. A road bike or a DH bike can be just as functional (if used for its intended purpose).
Can we stop this bullshit where racks/mudguards/moustache bars/hub gears/a combination of all of the above automatically makes something 'functional'.
It makes no sense.
