Where do you normally ride Toby? Back up in Nottingham myself and wouldn't mind a ride once I get a suitable bike

(i'll be living in Raleigh park, and for the first month or so will be lost as fuck so any help from people living there already would be massively appreciated) -

Should be getting some lovely new bits for my Charge Grinder this week, ordered a Brooks B17 and Brooks bartape both in black.
Also ordered two bars, on one mungo and midge, not sure which I'll prefer so will have a play about on each of them for a bit before I decide and tape up.I'm ashamed to say that a nice 5 geared Sturmey hub should be winging it's way to me soon too....

So this is the first fixed bike I've put together, took it for a quick ride this evening and it wasn't a disaster. Bar a brake cable is complete. I think.

First 100% sparse build.
Took a little over a year (actually a total of 1 week, but I am almost never in Rome...).Got the frame and front wheel shipped to Rome, self-built rear wheel (done and undone like three times bfr getting it right...), cranks are the only UK-purchased bit.
The bitch has been tested thoroughly in the streets of Rome and in Elba island, before taking the plane with me to London. Good performer.

nice and shiny, needs some bartape though. And your saddle looks awfully far forward.

Not sure I would have the guts to ride a bike there. I'm sure it's not so much a ride as a series of near misses right from the beginning until you've reached your destination.

Maybe... but not really. Cars slow down to a crawl before deciding to pass you. It's not worse than London, just different.
But I admit that I rode a scooter there since I was 15 until 24, so there might be some sort of muscle memory in my favour.
The pain the ass is more about trying to stay level and avoiding steep routes when moving in-out of the center.

New cranks on the RiGi... actually I put the ol' Pista cranks on it some time ago but didn't get a good photo of it (not that this is that good)..
I'd like to change the stupid Oury's to some other thick blue grips, I'd prefer something that doesn't have logos all over them... Any hints on what I should go for? I don't really like Keirin-grips but perhaps if I can get some thats not thin?

Haj
Lovely!
My current Project:
Went to Argos last week, getting my GB forks filled and rechromed, some dings filled on the frame + 6" to ends and seatstay bridge chromed. Dark red flamboyant.I'm excited! It'll take ages though.

haj, nice bike, and nice saddle.
Have you considered bar tape? -
• #34318
skully; thank you :)
jambon; I have been thinking that perhaps it would work well with bullhorns and bartape... But actually I kind of like the risers on it, and I don't like risers with bartape.. :)

haj, it might be best to get a slightly longer seatpost, and have 5mm or so sticking out the bottom
-
• #34320
get some onza ules off fleabay, comfy, no logos.

**31t®um; **The current post goes in almost to the bottom of the tube, should be okay I think. It's a Selcof aero-post, looks like a copy of the Campagnolo ones, but it is a bit longer.

The seat angle admittedly was dumb and has since been changed, the handlebars seem comfortable for now, but again, I've ridden it twice so that could well change.

the frame is an absolute result! really light 753 road conversion to track ends, so it feels nice over hills and shit.
That looks really nice man, I was going to ask if it was a 753 track frame as they're really difficult to come by...
Who did you get to swap the ends out for you?
I think you have to be pretty careful brazing 753
You should come out on some rides when you come up to Notts, a fair group of us ride Monday and Wednesday nights, the former is more speed and hill orientated, the latter drink orientated.
Notts hills are generally short, so no need to drop your GI too far. It's only heading up toward the peaks where you'd need something more spinny.
