Ouch... hope the hip recovers quicky

Hopefully no lasting damage done, heal up fast!
Guys and girls, I've started an Oxford Routes Database thread, which I thought would be a good place to share routes, pub locations etc so stick anything you think is worth knowing about in there!

when is the next one?

The next thread down :)

Where is the best place to buy spokes in Oxford? I'm looking to build a wheel and nowhere online sells spokes in sensible numbers. It all seems to be individual spokes or packs of 100.
I'll be heading to the OCW tomorrow to have a rummage in their parts bin so will ask them, but anywhere else I should try? -
• #108
beeline?
-
• #109
Had a look at the Beeline web site but not much info on there. OCW are closed on Mondays so will pop in tomorrow on the way home from work. Must resist the urge to buy everything in the parts bin!
As I'll be cycling past Beeline and Cycle King I'll probably have a look in those two too. -
• #110
You'll also be going past cycloanalyst ( http://www.cycloanalysts.com/shop/ ) probably a better bet than cycle king.
-
• #111
Cheers, might give them a try too. I still need to pick up a hub and rim , so it's good to have options!
-
• #112
where is the ocw? I am intrigued about this parts bin. If you see any bags in there give me a shout arducius
-
• #113
It's on Magdalen Rd, between Cowley Rd and Iffley Rd. Quite a small shop but have second hand parts and seem like nice fellows. Offer discounts before you ask for them. I got a campag 36h hub for £20, good condition. Wasn't looking for bags but give them a call, they had plenty of new stuff in too: 01865 204 799.

So would anyone be up for a ride this weekend? The weather isn't looking great, but hopefully won't be too wet. We could do the Watlington ride that never happened, or a different route. I don't really mind so long as it's on two wheels!
-
• #116
Apart from tonight's alleycat, I'm a bit busy, more's the pity. I finally have to face the
musicmaths -
• #117
Fair enough, good luck with the questions. How was the alleycat? I didn't make it back from work in time to get down for it.
How about this one for next weekend: Oxford to Avignon!? Looks like a good effort!
Weather is perfect today, I'm off out in a bit :) -
• #118
Well, more chickening out... next weekend I'm helping out with the Bike Polo at Blenheim, and then going up to Oxford, so no rides for me; on the other hand, Avignon looks like a nice Sunday spin, how about getting an early morning ride in on the 11th?
:P

Also, the alleycat was excellent win. I won a monkey soft toy in a rabbit disguise (it's awesome) and had great fun (and crashed 3 times, and finished last lmao). Next one's on October 29th I think, with an All Hallow's Eve theme.
-
• #120
Crashed 3 times!!? Impressive.
Oct 11... Won't that be the first morning of lectures for you? I could be persuaded to do an early ride if I'm not riding to work, unless the early morning ride is to Reading! On Saturday I just did a short loop up to Brill, and took a slightly different route back from last time. Windy as you like!
For this Saturday I have planned a hilly 60 miles through the Chilterns, uncluding a 25% climb! Anyone fancy joining me? Or if anyone doesn't fancy hills but does fancy a ride, then I'm sure we can come up with something else. Any takers?
-
• #121
Oops! I meant the 10th :-| Which climb is that?
-
• #122
I didn't make it to the 25% climb in the end, had to cut the ride short to get home in time to catch a train. Still, plenty of decent climbs. Definately a route to do again, needs a tweak to aviod a very muddy walk though!
I'm heading to London on Saturday morning to to the Brighton ride, anyone else up for coming on that? It's only about 65 miles, and there will be plenty of time to have a few beers by the sea.
ali0sha, what did you have planned for Sunday morning? I could be convinced to join you...
-
• #123
Meh, I wasn't planning anything, but I ended up going for an hour-long sprint out towards brill (didn't go that far though) and back. Nearly killed me :D.
Sorry for this, being a fresher I hardly have time to think, let alone plan more than 3 hours ahead.
-
• #124
...being a fresher I hardly have time to think between all the drinking!
Fixed ;)No worries, Weather is looking excellent today but I'm going to take the day off in the hope my headache fucks off so I can enjoy the weather in the week.
Brighton run yesterday was awesome, but getting home took almost as long as the ride!

Hey Guys / Girls,
I live in Oxford, ride singe speed and would gladly join anyone for an evening or daytime ride now and then. So please keep this thread updated with what you're up to if fancy any company.
Cheers!
Yeah, it was a good ride! Cycling home in the dark with a light that kept turning off was interesting, and my hip is quite bruised,
