It's true, although whether it's necessary is moot. Doesn't do any harm if you're buying new pedals anyway, as the price is about the same.

£15 different, unless you know where to get sprints for £40 in which case I'll get some!

£15 is probably nothing to a TT'er, but to a track rider that's a week's wages.
