are they like the track grips which only cover the actual drop part and not the tops?
if so water will help them slide on. when it dries out you are good.
many people recommend hairspray too.
(tiswas beat me to it)

BTW: with the rubber grips that slide on i've heard cola will do it - it'll slip on nicely, but as it dries, it gets very sticky and really glues it on. probably don't use diet - i'm guessing the sugar makes it sticky

i used hairspray and man power.
leave it for 24hours the alcohol in the hairspary evaporates and the sticky stuff stays -

i used to use wd40 on my mtb grips before some clever type invented lock-on grips. aways worked for me, and more likely to have wd lying around than hairspray. (in my house anyway, dunno about you bunch of pooftahs).

i always use wd40. they slide straight on, and the stuff evaporates in 10 mins, never came loose even in downpours.

Personally, I bought a can of cheapest hairspray for less than a quid and it's helped me install numerous grips so far. Just needs some time to dry properly, preferably leave it overnight. Not sure I would use that for actual track grips, though.
edit: It depends on the grips, usually ca. 15 minutes is enough. Only once when I installed some old stiff plastic grips on my gf's Dutch bike, they needed 2 days (sic!) to stop moving around. So, I'm still all for cheap hairpspray for this purpose.

overnight? boooring. fair enough though. swings and roundabout and all that.

I've tried hairspray, wd40, gt85 and soapy water - all have failed at some point.
I maintain clear spray laquer is best for the job.

and when you want to remove the grips? how easy is it?

oh another method ive used is the bung up one end of the bars so its airtight, push the grip on as far as you can by hand, then get a bike pump and push it against the hole in the end of the grip and hold firm while you pump. if you got the action right it inflates the grip so much the air starts to escape down the sides so you can slide it on cheezy peasy. no drying time needed...
Does anyone know how to install grips to drop bars?
I have bought some and I am in need on info/knowledge.
Thanks
