I'm thinking I might ride to Poole/Bournemouth either tomorrow or Saturday depending on weather and motivation. Anyone interested?

I'm riding from central to nr Godalming after work tonight, weather's forecast to clear up so should be reasonably pleasant. Pushing on from Godalming to the New Forest tomorrow morning.
Will post my routes up if anybody is interested

This is a pursuit, right?

Yep. Not a very difficult one though, my gear shrunk in the rain

What, shorter than 66.8" now?

That's what it shrunk to. Nice to be able to mix it off the line with the hybrids commuting this morning though, so every cloud

Going to do a recce of the Pirate ride on Sunday if anyones keen? The route is here although I'll be coming up from the South so will probably start at London Bridge. I was thinking of doing it in the morning but am pretty flexible. The weather will be good so it should be a nice 20 mile cruise with a ferry ride in between.

Anyone up for some laps of Regent's Park this (Saturday) afternoon? :)

Right. Basically I have nothing to do today…anyone up for a quick lunchtime roll? I’ll need to stop for fuel at some point. I’m at London Bridge. I’ll probably trundle around some backroads and get lost until I feel I have shirked long enough (probably an hour tops…)

Does anyone fancy 35 or so miles in the New Forest this week (probably Thursday)? Would involve getting the train from Waterloo-Brockenhurst (£23 return), and a leisurely roll around the forest and lanes, taking in a few pubs along the way?
-
• #342
oh ,
I just realised I need to do a risk assessment thursday, of some trails in the New Forest,
Can do that then meet up if you like. -

Ride this Saturday 9am outside the winchester pub on Archway Road.
Medium to paced 38 miles. This is a lovely ride that goes through an area known as little Switzerland so is pretty hilly.

Will I rock it on 78 gear inches? If so I'm in.

78 wil be tough as there are some steep hills (not too long though). It depends on how you useualy are on the hills really.

Prolly too last minute, this, but just in case:-
Next Saturday evening I'm training to Skipton, for a night in a cheap B&B. After an early breakfast on Sunday I'm going to attempt a few http://www.bikemap.net/route/729884. It's another route based upon Simon Warren's hill book, featuring six climbs including: Fleet Moss (Yorkshire's highest Road) and Park Rash (former national hill climb course).
Pace on the flat? There is no flat, but you should be inclined to rattle through the route in one go (with mebe a short pause for a bite of lunch and a "Fuck me, this is really quite hard"). I'm not massively racy (I can't push myself over 40mph on descents), but I do love a climb and I don't intend on hanging about unnecessarily. However, two massive thumbs up for friendly regrouping. Absolutely.
Back to Skipton for a takeaway, before the train home just after 19:00 (so bags of time in which to complete the route).
The trip could accommodate up to four, including me.
The main con is that, now inside the final week, this trip will cost you around £90 (b'bye, everybody). Unfortunately there's no longer a significant saving to be made on advance train tickets.
Also, this will be my first time out on the Dales, so I'm no expert on the locality. That said, I've now done a few "join the dots" style hilly routes, and I'm growing in confidence with them. Exploring the UK during the latter part of the year has been great fun.
Thassit. Drop me a note and I'll explain a bit more, or mebe just wait until I post an overenthusiastic message next Sunday night.
