Dont know if anyone will be interested as it is more Sunday best than NJS but I have a Carradice duxback waterproof jacket that is surplus to requirements and could be up for sale. Like the one at the top of the main picture here http://carradice.co.uk/rainwear/duxback-rainwear.shtml . they arent made anymore so I thought someone may have been trying to get hold of one.

HTFU, snowboarding thermal baselayer top with t-shirt over the top, gloves and shorts. Done.
If its raining then your gonna get wet whatever, end of.
Ive always followed this ethic, each winter commuting to uni Id get drenched head to toe (water would be spilling out of my shoes). I only cracked on to the idea of synthetic base layers towards the end.
The only things I dont really like about getting wet is, water in my face (because I wear glasses), and cold hands & feet. Can cope with the rest just fine.
I do currently have one of these jackets though;
Because it was bloody cheap for a high quality gore-tex jacket. Which is extremely durable and feels like nice cotton shirt fabric instead of plasticcy raincoat.
After having it a while Ive gotten really used to the luxury of being kinda dry whilst just commuting & stuff. Seem less of a weirdo to not be drenched in water for the whole winter.
But if I was going out just to cycle, Id prefered to be all lycra'd up without restrictive jacket on.

I'm rocking the Barbour 'Sapper' this winter season, got it for about £200 and thus got a discount on a hot tweed with leather elbow patches, they even threw in the wooden hangers for good measure.
They're both blazing hot looks in the country:

if wearing a good cycling jacket then no. what the point getting wet if you can avoid it ? makes no sense at all.

getting wet is silly, and besides DFP, waterproof jackets are not restricting at all, especially light jackets like the ones by Montane.
i cannot think of anything worse than getting soaked down to the base layer, especially in winter.
HTFU doesn't even apply, it's just plain old horrible and bad for your health to get that cold as you do when soaked. -

I'm a bit confused. Earlier this year, I purchased the Endura eVent waterproof jacket for £75 (half price at cyclesurgery) - this one http://www.bikeradar.com/gear/category/clothing/jackets/product/event-jacket-9133
I wore it for 5 days during a cycling expedition in Wales mid October, where it rained NOTHING AT ALL. Since then I've worn it one to twice a week and only 4-5 times it's actually rained enough to make it worth wearing it for its "waterproofness"
The problem is, where the water initially beaded up as it should do, it now absorbs into the fabric. Before I could also create a pool of water on the jacket, whereas now it absorbs slowly into the material.
Have I been conned? Or is this how such a jacket is supposed to perform? I thought it would last be at least the winter! The water hasn't got through to the inner layers yet, but I can feel some sort of cold dampness when I touch inside with a dry hand.My other jacket is also an Endura (Convert II) much cheaper RRP but at the moment is much more waterproof i.e. the water beads up.
EDIT: I would like like to add that the moisture that gets absorbed EDIT 2: I never never washed the thing either :) -

I have one. Paid over the odds for mine (UTFInternet fail, but supported my then-LBS) at £69.99. It can pack down very small, although keeps the ridiculous crinkly look when unpacked. Fabric is very thin. Zip has storm lining flap behind it, cuffs and hem and quite soft, there's a little thumb loop on the inside of each sleeves (that's what I use it for, anyway), which keeps the arms from flapping about too much. The dropped tail part keeps your arse crack covered, but doesn't keep road crap off you as it isn't that long.
Breathability: not qualified to say, as I sweat like a sweaty thing at the slightest provocation. I own a very expensive marmot walking jacket, and it's not as good as that. It's better than the last berghaus jacket I had, though.
As for waterproofing, it will hold up to just about anything. The fabric itself never let water through, it was the inadequate flap on the back of the zip that let water seep through the zip and onto me. I got more water on my top from it running off my face / neck than through the zip, and that was pretty heavy rain and pretty high speeds (for me, anyway), so I'd probably give it an 8/10.
Oh, it's very light indeed, weighs just slightly more than fuck-all. I have nodder-yellow and it's eye-hurtingly bright. Reflective stuff on arse is a bonus.
It makes a great lightweight windproof outer shell, cos you can cram it in the back pocket of a jersey if you get warm.

lightweight - montana extralight
heavier - swerve hoodie, best buy ever! -

I loved the look and feel of the Swrve Hoodie... except none of the sizes fitted me correctly :(
Will have to check out the montana extralight, looking for something to keep in the bag

Swrve hoodies are fucking warm - be warned unless you want to sweat it out or are cold blooded. The wwr trousers are great in the wet though. Well worth it.
