My i7500 had 'multi-touch' available for it only a couple of months after it was out.
It's not the same multi-touch as on the Desire and N1 because the hardware doesn't take into account as many points or something so weirdness happens when doing drags or pinches. So, it's a kind of pseudo MT. I don't remember seeing much more work done on this because it just wasn't that useful.
