^ sounds like an on one il pompino would have been the practical choice ;)
Like I said my point was more about choosing the right tool for the job. Why did you strip your mtb to ss and put slicks on? Equally whats the point of having an old racer built up as effectively a touring bike if you're only using it for relatively short journies
I couldn't afford a pompino the mountain bike was £50 second hand from a decent manufacturer (it is a Marin so it ain't shit), so I made it into a commuter bike over time by buying the odd bit when I could afford it.
As for having an old racer with a rack on ... never thought of using the panniers for your shopping? I don't have a car ...so down to the supermarket on my bike.
And my point was that riding a bike that is made for the "Track" .... thus the name isn't very practical when you aren't on the "Track".

Cheap ebay purchase, old track frame from Herne Hill,
"cheap" ?!
You could have had the whole bike for not much more, we still have one of those 58s knocking about needing to be sold...

My current project - not one I plan to keep for long but will make a good commuter for now. Frame is a Carlton track I got from Robbiebee and armourtexed purple, forks are BLB chrome.

They replace the old frame with Fuji, is that right RPM?
Oh you incorrectly labelled a 57cm frame as a 56cm you nugget.

It is stripped flite and I found it fairly comfortable but not as nice as an arione for long rides. Sold it on a while back.

I didn't label it, you nugget.
That would have been done years ago, SFAIK the blue frames are/were all 57-58.
Stadium bikes have been replaced with some fujis, yes but there are still many of the old Harrys in circulation when it's busy.

This puppy is already dead... It was hit by a car it seems... Left stays are bent really bad and the fork is all fucked up. Don't think it's worth saving.
edit; I would guess from the damage that the large triangle isn't quite straight either... Do you still think it's worth something?
