Just to wade in on the warranty issues and the UK. My experiences with Velotech (who manage Campy's warranty business here in the UK) have been that they do an outstanding job of getting riders back on the road asap- I tend assume that where there has been a massive delay there may have been other factors at play- like the holy month of August when Italians are not allowed to work.
Most retailers would tend to replace this sort of failed item immediately and then sort it out with their supplier- even if there is a minor cash flow issue around this- (i.e. their supplier taking a few days or weeks to get the part or cash back to them).
