  • Ah, glad she's sorted ^ then.

Have to say though I am amazed at the levels of truly obnoxious sexism she's facing. Is it really like this on the road for the ladies, any of ours care to comment?

It's really sad and pretty repulsive :(

    Yes.

Some of what Felicity tells me she experiences is pretty out there. It's really not uncommon for people to shout things at her, and she's on occasions had cars slow and shadow her for a while, guys on the cycle lane try to grab her and obstruct her (Hanger Lane cycle lane as the road there is narrow and it's a enough of a hill to slow you down).

It's pretty damn bad, and this is West where it's relatively peaceful in comparison to stories I've heard from those South and East. I've no idea what North London is like as no-one has told me first-hand anything about there, but I work on the assumption that this shit is everywhere.

Not that this is unique to cycling, and not necessarily wanting to turn it into a feminist thread, but this is just reflective of a very significant societal problem. The delicacy that people have towards others religion is not shown towards their sex, and it still seems to be acceptable behaviour enough that men think nothing of the effect of how they treat women.

So yes... this shit happens everywhere. And women are treated like shit a hell of a lot. It sucks, really sucks.
