  • Done, worth the waiting... this is seriously tasty albeit not adding the (essential) meat.
I went down the vegetarian route,... but since I bought 2kgs of Rump Steak, yesterday, I had to have
a bit as well. Oh, and some 'esparregado', portuguese spinach puree.
    Delish.

just ordered myself the cookies and cream... oh yeah

  • Of all the nicer, fruity deliciousness... you chose the worst.

  • all the same, dibs leftovers

  • I went to hastings on the weekend. We had dinner in a quirky 2nd hand bookshop by day/thai restaruant by night place (husband/mailorder bride team). It was spectacular.
Found a Christmas book whilst supping, which had loads of homemade stuff in it (naff stuff like gifts and cards, present ideas like sea salt body scrubs/lip balms/mulled wine kits and food (ginger bread) and drink). Purchased said book, and my mates have agreed to sack off their families this year in preference of a friends home made xmas at mine - I'm so excited.
Happened to find a load of sloes on a tree so we've decided to start preping now by making sloe gin! Can not wait!

  • sacking off families at christmas is a big commitment!

I made pineapple eton mess last night, it was awesome

  • I've lunched the house down this week. My last 4 lunches have been:

    • Clam linguini

    etc

Me too. I've been in Normandy, where the beaches are not pretty, but full of food.

If you see people doing this, join them.

With a small rake, a bucket and a bit of 'help', you can pick up enough clams for 4 people easily.

Let them soak in sea water for an hour or so, drain, rinse

and add to an onion, garlic, chilli and white wine base. When they've opened, discard 9 out of 10 shells, add some cream, and spoon over some linguini to avoid the grit at the bottom of the pot.

    Popular all round.

When you've done that once too often, just boil them to open, remove the meat, cover with garlic butter and bread crumbs, and grill until sizzling.

  • yum yum yum. want!

  • Mmm clams!

Quick question: Anyone ever made homemade jerky and want to recommend a recipe?
There seems to be far to many on the internet and I'm indecisive.

  • just made acorda de tomate (recipe from times style mag, weekend before last) and on paper it looks ok, but in reality is amazing!!! homegrown eggs, onions and tomatoes helped, but it was way better than it sounds!!! only problem is, i didn't make enough.....

  • just made Açorda de Tomate (recipe from Alentejo, south of Portugal) ....

    ftfy ; )

  • right im back from holiday and will be recceing the little georgian on thursday.

    What to expect:
    Khachapuri (pan fried cheesebread)

    Khinkali (lamb and pork dumplings)

Kharcho (walnut curry with chicken or lamb)

    Mcvadi (pork kebabs)

For the veggies a selection of Pxali (aubergine, spinach, cabbage and beetroot salads)

A couple of the pictures dont really do the food justice and im not sure what will be on offer but I will post more when I find out!

  • cheesebread and dumplings look lush.

  • i reckon the dumplings would go well in the walnut curry as well...

  • I want to make love with that cheesebread... lish.

If the georgian is good ill put details up to go sometime next week?

  • Go on then ; )

  • I'm off cooking a Feijoada, but the portuguese version, not the Brazilian.

    Brazilian

    Portuguese

    [farty time!]

cooked a massive brazilian one of these for a party. pigs ears and tails etc etc. good times. not farty if you soak the beans for at least 24 hours (48 is better) before you cook it.

anyone know where I can find some good pho in London? I've been to 'pho' in soho and it was average.

  • Have a quick search (on this thread I think) - I had a pho whinge a while back and there were some good suggestions.

  • Ah. Here.

  • I'm staying in London on the 4/5th september, in the LSE halls EC1, my girlfriend is on a course in shoreditch. what good (and relatively cheap) places should i go to round there to eat? I want fun stuff that you can only get in London - so niche places mainly. And a good place for a greasy fry up in the morning, and nice places to go for a drink. cheers in advance!

    Fucking win food

  • Went to Bodeans the other night for the first time ever in my life. I had some sort of pork and burnt ends in BBQ sauce on a bun, w/chips.

Bloody lovely, and a lot of food for the price. Mrs Glover had a combo, not so good but still a decent plate of meat.

    7/10, would eat again.
