so basically, RLJ should be made legal where Dancing_James feels it is safe to do so?
What if you RLJ and get clattered by a speeding car trying to get through the junction before the amber light. Your bike gets catapulted through the air and kills one of my kids (slim possibility but it is possible) who is in the wrong there?
Not you coz you know what you're doing (says you), must be the speeding motorist and my kid for standing on the pavement

We wont save the planet but by our actions wenhelp demonstrate that cyclists jumping red lights are actually not a great danger compared to cars that do so.
This could then help the ammemdment to the law.
If a driver puts my life in danger by braking the law I believe I have a right to address this with them. If my jumping a red light does not affect anyone then it is probably not worthy of comment.

"Is racism illegal? (that's a serious comment btw)"
No, you are allowed to be racist, however acting on that view in a way that harm or offends others is illegal

Im that case I would blame the children. Bastards.

IMO rules are for the guidance of wise men and the obedience of fools.
Unfortunately plenty of fools take themselves for wise men. There's bags of evidence on this forum...

What if you're not cycling and see a driver RLJing? Should you address him? Even if hasn't done anything to you?
I do RLJ, but I know I'm a cunt for it.

There's an exception to every rule...

...hense the need for rules ;)
Which is why I have no problem when I've got tickets for RLJing.
Altho that said, there's a junction by Angel, where I always half RLJ so the cars behind can turn left without being held up by me, and if I ever got done there I'd bitch nonestop about it.

Just my point really - the law only dictates what is permissible and what is not. Right and wrong are independent of this. In your scenario, anyone running over the sweet old lady is a cunt, regardless of the colour of the lights or the vehicle they were in. unless she is a fucking benefit fraudster.
Interesting. You appear to believe in a moral standard that exisits for all time. A very Christian viewpoint but one which is not supported evidentially, even if one looks at Christian history. Morals are subjective. Legislation objective. In cases such as racism, legislation has helped to change popular morality.
The point I was trying to make was that morals and morality are completely independent from legislation, even though they usually tend to agree. Therefore, what is allowed by legislation is not necessarily correct morally, which I feel was what kerley was arguing for.

[/I]*Racism's not really the best eg is it? 1) its not illegal; and 2) I'd dispute this idea that everyone was a predudice before the law said we couldn't be. *
If you want a better eg - drink driving. And that's still not really changing a moral stance, more like a social one.
*For the most part the law and our politics is a social barrometer. *

I believe You can run a light for your own safety.
If it is clear the vehicle behind you is not going to stop in time and would hit you if you stopped you can then go through.
Is racism illegal? (that's a serious comment btw)
Now this just doesn't make any sense. The law is a juggling act and is made up / changed based on a whole whost of influences, none of which are necessarily based on any sense whatsover.
Although DJ is usually worng about everything, on this whole topic he's making some good points. IMO rules are for the guidance of wise men and the obedience of fools.
