@ Smallfurry, are those on-one bars? look a bit narrow to be a midge, but the right kind of shape.

@smallfury
amazing effort, that looks like it could survive a nuclear holocaust

My geared bike (the mongrel). Just built some new wheels for it, and put some new pedals on. Used centerlock hubs on the wheels, as I may upgrade the frame to a disc brake compatible one in the future (Salsa Vaya?). Its a bit of a do it all bike, that takes 45mm studded tyres in the winter. A POS but a useful POS.
Love this. Proper bike

Lots of nice bikes in this thread.
When the sun comes up again I'll snap mine and add it to the collection.

And it was a Vittoria Evo Corsa..............£37 to replace it. Or not. Swapped it out for a Michelin Pro 3, then yesterday went to RP for a couple of laps, and then I punctured. Typical.
Nice tire, but not very durable.

Nearly finished my Kinesis, ultra shitty photo, will get some better ones once it's done. So chuffed to have a bike that doesn't way half a metric shit-ton.

Oh my. I hope it's the camera making that colour look so horrible.

Its the angle of the photo. They are pretty wide, which is a little annoying in the summer, but very useful in the winter, or when pulling/carrying heavy loads.
Riding off-road with your hands squashed into the tight bends of a pair midge bars, is something everyone should try :)
Thanks for the nice comments. There is nothing porn about a OEM CX frame with low-end Deore MTN groupset and touring kit. But it is the most useful bike I have ever owned. Which has cut my car usage, while increasing my weekly cycling miles, and for these resons, I love it.

Yeah, it's about as primary red as you could get in reality.
Also,

I was tired last night, but that's beyond retarded.

Looking good. How are you getting on with that stem length?
You've not been playing polo on it though have you?

my geared bike. gotta say it feels nice to ride on the weekend after commuting all week on 52x19 over the Worcestershire Alps.

That's what is was for? The wheels suck in goal though. Ball flies right through the spokes.
That photo makes the bars appear to be at a funny angle...
And I think the stem is a bit too long... But then, I don't really know how stretched out I should be? I need to read about torso/arm and TT length stuff since I can't be bothered to have a bike fit done.
I may try bumping the saddle up 10mm or so.
(cheers for the bar/stem combo again!)

thanks, you really inspred me as to the choice of bars for my Empella CX now the roads are getting wetter and the tracks muddier. wondering whether you can ride with your hands on the hoods on the more relaxed stretches, with the brakes fitted like that?
-

I was going to ask the exact same question. what are midge bars like riding on the hoods? more or less comfy than standard road bars? also, +1 for being a bit inspired. man I am itching for my new bike.
