The most convenience is dynamo light powered by the hubs, you can even attach it to the axles without having any fussy wiring.
You really only have two choice about the lock, buy a smaller (but stronger) one that you can carry on your belt with those fabric horse lock holster, or carry it in your bag.
the problem with painting it is that it's covered by a rubber coating and it's there to prevent it from getting smashed by liquid nitrogen (and your bike will attach the eyes of thieves).
I was eagle-eyeing those sort of dynamo lights, and I like the idea of not having any trouble fighting wiry wires.
