  • So the 'Ha!' is ironic. Right.

    .

It saddens me when I see than another user of lfgss takes evident delight in having no fucking sense of humour or irony.

  • It's pretty odd to get abused every single day, normally I'd get something like 2-3 a months, sometime nothing go by over a month.

    neat blog though.

Must be embellished a lot. Starting a blog called 101 wankers then have a steady stream of examples is pushing it a bit. Or it must be worse being a female cyclist than I thought .

You've got to be a pretty shitty cyclist to be called names every day, either that or you are looking for it/ starting it IMO

"As a pedestrian, people occasionally shouted comments as they drove past, but this didn’t happen more than 3 times a month usually"

That's not normal, is it? Sounds like Ms. Foster manages to draw attention to herself regardless of whether she's on a bike or not. Would love to know why.

1+ was thinking that, and I don't think being a women worsen that IMHO, my girlfriend rarely get any kind of abuse everyday, and when she does it's usually a compliment, however she's an excellent cyclist which also have something to do with it.

Perhaps the fact that she's of the female homo sapien and probably didn't work with the traffic properly got her a lots of abuse everyday.

You see, Dawn, it's really all your own fault. Welcome to 1001 wankers.

  • You see, Dawn, it's really all your own fault. Welcome to 1001 wankers.

TBH I assumed that the thread was about the forum anyway.

  • Well it sounds like it's all true, add me to the incredulous male list!

The psychology of it all's bizarre I mean obviously it seems to be a male thing, yet the majority of males (me included) can't seem to understand it.

I'm actually thinking it might be more a road bullying thing than some sort of odd courtship ritual!

Males see less of it. I honestly can't remember the last time someone shouted abuse at me, when I said 6 months before I actually think it's much longer than that. I ride every single day (commute) so I get the mileage in. I'd say I'm quite an aggressive rider, you'll often find me tearing the centre lane of slow moving traffic, or holding road position when I don't want someone to overtake (while keeping the speed up, trying not to be obstructive). I'd also say I can look a bit aggressive (shaven head).

Then again it might just be the route I do, it's a straight road virtually all the way.

There are a LOT more that 101 wankers on here

  • .

  • Whoa! Stompy! Blast from the past! You ain't been round much, lately!

I've been around. I did the last Circle Line ride and I'm looking good for the next Bridges.

It's nice to be remembered! Cheers.

  • nothing to see here. next post plz

  • Shall we see if we can club together and make the blogger a bike? Who's got bits? I'm sure I could chuck a seatpost in and perhaps a stem and bars too... Anyone got a frame?

What size frame you after, Dawn?

  • I'm in. Am sure I've got bits that could be useful.

  • That's a good question - my last three were between 17" and 19" I think, because they were all SUABs.

  • I have 18" or 19" mtb frames..
with a ton of other bits too.

cluttering up my container at the track so would want rid anyway

  • We have a green light... Nab a frame off RPM, once we know what size components/wheels it needs we're ready to go... :]

  • I have spare brake levers, and some Thorn risers should they be of use.

  • frame has fork, bars stem and headset, seatpost and seat already in it IIRC.
probably a front wheel there too.

  • I have a few old bits lying around I'd happily donate - Weinmann levers and brakes (though they're not that great in all honesty), an 80s Stronglight double chainset in pretty good nick, plus front and rear derailleurs and braze-on levers. Don't have the matching cassette any more though. Also a 1" threaded 3t stem. Might be able to rustle up some bartape as well.

  • I am the victim of sexual harassment from attractive women on a daily basis.

Can I have a new bike?

  • Yes Balki, see teenslain after school.

  • You see, Dawn, it's really all your own fault. Welcome to 1001 wankers.

Bet they didn't expect Dawn to actually read this thread, eh? ;)

  • Bet they didn't expect Dawn to actually read this thread, eh? ;)

Actually, when I started this thread I pretty much expected Dawn to find it and join our merry throng. It's a small world after all, and me emailing her about the thread would have done no harm either ;)

I didn't expect you guys to sort her out with a bike though - awesome stuff.

  • Bet they didn't expect Dawn to actually read this thread, eh? ;)

Well given the majority of us are regular commuting cyclists riding the very same roads, and this blog is claiming levels of abuse 300 times that which is perceived as "normal" - then I think you'd be pretty stupid not to question.

It's just pretty surprising is all.

  • The rest of her blog will be filled with wankers shouting Do A Skid

  • I think it's right to question her story too. The Daily Mail has run a fine and vital campaign to expose the evil of women making false allegations of bike related abuse. And while those women can blog anonymously the poor car drivers have their number plates posted all over the internet. It's political correctness gone mad.

  • you know what we need, license plates for bicycles. And an online data base of the home addresses of each one, so we know who to firebomb.
