  • I'm sorry to say that, but unfortunately if they want to break a lock, they just do it...they just need the huge tool required to do the job, but once they got it you're fucked

    some even go around with a bloody van, pretending to be some sort of "council removal team for abusive bike parking", breaking the lock in front of everyone in the middle of the day and loading the bike onto the van. a friend of mine got it's bike stolen that way: he managed to find the bike on sale in brick-lane market though, but as the bike was brand new he couldn't prove the ownership.

    you seem to be in the position of knowing very well every bit of your frame, that might really help
    send friends around in the markets (look for someone without a proper shop or stand, but who put a sort of tea-towel or jacket on the floor with the frame, crank etc on it so that they can grab the stuff and run in case of problems) and good luck :
