• Ken Livingston talking stolen bikes on his LBC phone in.....just started so will run for a while..
.....On Now...!!!

• @Wolfsangle23

You say your locks "weren't too bad", and I'm sure the thieves agree with you. "Weren't too bad" just doesn't cut it in central London I'm afraid.

If your lock bar diameter is at least 16mm, or even better yet, 18mm in thickness, you would be forcing the thieves use motorised cutting gear, instead of the standard hand-powered boltcutter.

Thieves are just walking up to your bikes, pulling out a standard boltcutter, and your bikes gone. Your locks are deficient for the intended purpose. Sorry, but you are the one actually providing the evidence for my statement.

• Looks that way, yes. I shall buy a "fit for purpose" lock next time I actually have anything that I can lock up.

• Please keep your eyes open for this bike.

Frame is 4 weeks old, other parts older.
Stolen outside of a shop I was working on in Shorts Gardens Covent Garden.
I chased the thief but couldn't catch him.
Bike now keeps appearing on Gumtree. Take a look - it's making me weep.

If anyone sees this bike around - it's quite distinctive because of the colour - I would really appreciate it if you could report it to the police. I've let them know and have a crime ref.
no. etc.

Thanks,

A Very Sad Cyclist

• Cheers - That's the one.

• http://www.gumtree.com/london/55/63591555.html Bianchi for £200? too good to be true?

Depends if the receipt looks legit I guess?!

Re: Condor, what a cock, seriously. Maybe give him some abuse on the listed number - although this is probably not a good idea....

I had two stolen from Shorts Gardens when I worked there. Plus one gone on Friday from opp. top end of Neal St on Shaftesbury ave - clearly still a hotspot. Hope you get it back.

Just checked Brick Lane this morning. Some obviously stolen stuff including a Moulton set up like a mountain bike (?!) with purple brake calipers. Sooooo many Brooks saddles too. Very depressing really.

• for those that drop by brick lane on a sunday morning - perhaps it's possible to take a couple of discrete pictures of anything obviously stolen, and stick them up on here?

• My friend has just had his mountain bike stolen in kingston town center.
It is a whyte 905 hard tail, with a white frame and black forks size large, with a hope rear hub x314 rims armadillo tyres and xt pedals, if anybody spots this please let me know, he only got it a couple of weeks ago and is absolutely gutted.

I know its not fixed but i really feel for the guy, if anyone can help that would be awesome!

• Was down BL myself today and did think about snapping any fg or ss bikes. But it was mostly cheapo crap.

Giving up the hunt for our bikes, but please keep an eye out for my rattle-can red Raleigh with the black head tube, and Lisa's green-and-purple Vicious Cycle with her name on.

• Had a good look down brick lane this morning, nothing but old wrecks and cheap mountain bikes.
As I walk down one street there was a protest and I could see a police van in the background, and I thought maybe its bike owners having enough of stolen goods being re-sold in markets like these. But, alas, it was against the fur trade and the fact that 'Beyond Retro' sell vintage fur stolls - or such like.

• walking past my local off licence yesterday, you cant see out window due to display, fella leaves a bianchi road bike leaning against the glass outside without even a lock on it.

I mean ffs.

• @Bigbadvoodoodave

Very expensive bike. Was it locked up, or left out of sight for a minute?

• Received some consolation this earlier today. A neighbour found the Steamroller dumped over a fence near their house. Nothing wrong with it except scuffed bar tape and pedal on right hand side. The little scrotes obviously stacked it immediately after taking it. Which made me smile.

Mountain bike is still missing.

• I had a very beautiful bike stolen in the early hours of this morning and was wondering if anyone might have any info on it. It was locked up at London Bridge at the time.

The frame is a custom built 60cm Dave Hinde Lo in Peacock Blue with chromed forks, seatstays and chainstays. The rear wheel is a trispoke and are Specialised carbons. The Trispokes are actually white with TRISPOKE written down the side but I had them sprayed matt black.

It's a 700 rear, 650c front (spoked wheel was a Velocity Deep V) both on Bontrager tyres. Handlebars were Cinelli, brakes were Tektro, brake levers were Cane Creek, Seat was Titanium Sella Italia, Stem was ITM titanium, Groupset was Shimano. All the brake cables were internally routed and there was reflective black tape on the seatpost.

Please if anyone sees this let me know!

Many thanks,

Tom

• What lock did you use? (Not that this deters tooled up opportunists)

A bike like that cannot be left in a communal/accessible area.

Out of sight out of mind.

• I stupidly lent a friend of mine my bike to do a Triathalon yesterday knowing there was no time when he'd leave it anywhere. He did. Popped into work at Guys Hospital and it was stolen at about 3am. They got through a Kryptonite M18 and a couple of other locks too.

The bike:

One off Dave Hinde Lo Pro frame. It's 60cm, metallic peacock blue with chrome forks, seatstay and chainstays. The frame number stamped underneath the BB is either 12 or 17, but there are things on the bike frame that are unique to it. At the time of the theft there was black electrical tape covering the DAVE HINDE stickers on the down and seat tube, but not the "DH" sticker on the frame below the stem.

Rear wheel is a 700 Specialised Carbon Trispoke wheel, front is a 650c Deep V Velocity. Both have Bonti tyres.

Cinelli bull bars, Cane Creek levers, Shimano groupset (not SS/Fixed yet) . All brake cables are internal with Tektro brakes.Titanium ITM stem, Sella Italia titanium saddle (not in image). There is black reflective tape on the seatpost and other parts of the bike.

Obviously I am devastated (not to mention furious with my friend - who leaves a bike like that locked up in South London during the night?! I never leave it anywhere that's not inside) as it cannot be replaced, but I guess at least it's distinctive enough to be noticed. I imagine it's being dismantled and shipped abroad rather than taken down to Brick Lane, but please could people keep an eye out for the frame - the geometry is pretty aggressive and the rear wheel distinctive.

I will give someone a MASSIVE financial reward if they find this bike - far more than anyone else will pay for it. It has huge sentimental value as it was my late fathers. That's the most annoying thing. Some scum have it and will sell it for 10% of what i'll pay to get it back.

Moral is. Don't ever lend anyone anything you really value.

Please please keep your eyes peeled and if you do see it, want to get in touch or could give me some advice on good places to look for stolen bikes my email is . Telephone number is 07977 200 231

I'm off now for a little cry.

Tom

• Your mate needs a kickin

Good luck with teh search

• Good luck mate, a bike with a geometry that aggressive won't sell so easily. Keep an eye out on http://bikeshd.co.uk/ and report it to the police. Regardless of their incompetence, it certainly won't hinder your search. My sincere condolences..

• wow - thats a real shitter. might turn up though - fingers crossed

• Boo hoo, this is really bad. One Less Friend.

• blast! good luck getting it back
