was joshing, clearly.
If I had a mate offer me a dirty, scrubby Moser of summink not knowing what it was for a fiver I'd have his hand off anyway.

He got the bike for cheap as part of a deal on vw bits and is willing to pass on at cost
So I'm not ripping anyone off thanks.
But he might be?
Not my fault guv? It was someone else what done it? -

Nobody?

So I swapped an Iceni road frame for this one with my brother a while ago. It just says Nickson Professional Cycle shop on the decal and it's blue as you can see. Can anyone shed any light on what it is?
I'm guessing Bill Nickson, but wondering what it's worth and if it may be just a generic frame that someone's put the decal on. Anyone ever seen/had one before?
My brother got it off ebay about 4 or 5 years ago.
Thanks a lot

rear spacing is 130 (well it *was *but i've made it 5mm bigger since!)
Front spacing is 108 (think this was prob originally 100 and also been slightly pulled apart too!)
dunno if that helps anyone id it.
thanks

I don't think it is, I think even the cheaper models had the seat stays stamped, and to be honest the forks aren't pretty enough;...even the lower models were better than the one your looking at ...search benotto on this forum and you will see the 800 that was for sale last year looking a damned sight better than this little one..
best wishes

Thanks for your thoughts. I agree with you, I thought the same.
But the seller confirms that it's a real Benotto and states that it is very old.
I may have a look tomorrow and check by myself.
What is interesting is the size (24" wheels?) and the fact that it is a Benotto (I owned 3x 3000's and a 5000 Aero myself).
Not sure if I'm going to keep it. For sure, someone will be interested in a affordable 24" road bike.BTW: not all Benotto's look like a 3000, even not like an 800. See pic .

Just picked it up.
Not because it's a stunning beauty, but it's just cute and I couldn't resist this small italian (?)vintage geared road bike.
Was not expensive, I rode 3 Benottos (owner of the 24" bike called it Benneton :-) ) myself and I have 2 kids who can ride this.
I'm 99% sure that it is a real Benotto.
No signs of respray, no markings of other manufacturers, 70mm BB-shell, stickers look original, several parts have a Benotto label, so it would be pretty stupid that the frame is something else.
It'll be a current project, since there's still something to be done. -

benotto or not, still a nice little bike!

I found an old square-taper Campag left crank in my box of old miscellaneous bike bits but I don't remember which model it is. If I had to take a guess I'd say it was Veloce but it might be Chrous. There's no printing left on the crank, if there ever was any, but has "284" stamped on the inside of the crank but I doubt that helps to identify it. I'm asking because I might be able to make use of it again if I can find out which model it is and so get the right BB. It's likely to be from around 2002-03. So does anybody know how to tell which model it is?
I can post photos if that would help. Let me know if there's anything in particular I should focus on.

I thought it best to bump an old thread rather then start my own, but can anyone shed anylight on this Holdsworth i just picked up, ( £100 )
The frame number seems to be N176BY. is that correct? i've not taken the forks out yet to see if there is a stamp there,
its 531 (i think cant make out the sticker) but it was repainted somewhere as the remolds sticker says respray on it
Here is one picture. the rest are on the flickr

i was going to say late 50's early 60's cyclone. but the very very very rare bronze head badge dates it pre 55.
-
• #644
wow really, its that old? so its worth it for the £100?
The guy selling it had it with a load of bike parts from an old guy who must have passed away recently. there where about 4 brooks saddles, 2 other bikes, a frame set crazy stuff.
on closer inspection the head badge is this logo, embossed? engraved? something into the bronze, its worn away slightly probably from years of polishing.
