Really glad to find this forum, chapeau! Been riding varying qualities of geared road bikes for years for commuting and lesuire. Was just ready (ie all parts ready) to convert my old steel raliegh equipe frame when the head tube cracked (horendously, "why does my bike feel like a boat?"). My search for a new frame brought me here and i am mighty impressed, more forums should rock this style of moderation administration. BTW I live in manchester.

Sup, been lurking for a while...love this forum, picked up so many tips that the only time I've visited a bike shop is when I handed in an application form.
I'm in Kennington, which seems to be the super highway of fixies. :D

Hello all,
I'm from Mexico/The States (Texas) and I'll be heading on over to London for study for a semester from the end of august to January. I'm pretty familiar with bikes/bike forums/etc, and I'll be looking to buy a bike since it wouldn't be worth it to fly across the pond with any of mine and I simply cannot stand the idea of not riding for any amount of time.
Looking forward to meeting and riding with y'all, getting to know the city by bike (the best way of course).
I'll be checking out the for sale section soon.
Cheers.

Just joined - this looks a good forum. Havent seen anything like it before, good on everyone who is contributing. Moved over from Melbourne and have been in London a short while, havent gone fixed yet, but its happening very soon.
If anyone can point me in the direction of a shabby old, beaton down, outdoor Velodrome I'd really appreciate it.
Yawl stay upright ok.

Hello, longtime lurker, used a combination of this site and sheldon to build up my first bike (50s dawes touring frame w/armourtex respry, mavic opensport rims and a bunch of fairly cheap components). Alas I have no pics at the moment. But yeah, hi.

New Members Compass Beer Rides: 7pm Departure Trafalgar Sq
http://www.lfgss.com/thread15291-22.htmlThings we do well on this forum, organise and go on a regular basis to Drinks, wherever they may be, and Ride.
So in the spirit of these two elements, comes the all new,
New Members Compass Beer Rides. It has been noted that meeting up with a big group of forumengers that you don't know in a pub can be slightly intimidating. So to make it less so, this idea has been put forward to combine drinks and rides.
Think of it as a Forum Fresher's week, without the hazing, so that the previous months new members get a chance to meet up with, and ride with fellow forumengers. Talk bikes, find out where drinks are, and get a good ride in at the same time
You can come out to the beers closest to you, or trek out to a beers on the otherside of town, safe in the knowledge that you'll be with people who a) know where they are going, and that b) someone will be heading back in your general direction so you can ride home in the company of another forumenger. So For One Week, there will be rides from Trafalgar Sq, to the Beers,
Monday - Souths @ The Coach and Horses SW4 7EX
Tuesday - Norths @ The Flask N6 6BU or
Tuesday - South Easts @ The Roebuck SE1 4YG
Wednesday - Easts @ The Royal Inn on the Park E9 7HJ
Thursday - Wests @ The Peartree W6 8HJA couple of regulars from each beers will be at Trafalgar Sq from approx 6.30 for a prompt 7pm departure, and will take any new member who so wishes for a ride which will arrive at beers/polo.
The Next Compass Beer Rides will be
Aug 16-22 2010.The route to beers from Trafalgar Sq is to be decided by the regular who will be leading the group.
So New Members start here, come down to the ride to the beers, introduce yourself to other new and regular members, get a good ride into a beers, enjoy a soothing alcoholic beverage in the soothing presence of your new found bike friends and get a warm and fuzzy feeling at being welcomed into the collective forum bosom.

To Whit? To Woo
My absence in July was verily august,
Making grown men cry and my return a must.
Between swallow's beak I hid from cruel posts imparted,Suggesting I reeked like the recently departed.
But ere i get started may i implore you forgive,
Of my errant rantings, say I live and let live,
But mostly I pray thee forgo,My post's wintry censure (for this I must afore cock's crow!).
And thence twice more, for tis the dread deal,
And all before this orb rounds yon Sun's fiery fixed wheel. For betwixt now and whence this cuckoo flees the nest,
His fledgling intent must thee test; I must impress, nothing less.
For if my nursery-fed gizzard is with spam thickly freighted,Then my much-awaited efforts though droll would yell troll,
At best, of no use, but maybe much worse.
And what's worst? An abstruse misuse of the good Doctor Seuss!Hence, the scarecrow must play inquisitor to this nocturnal visitor,
Thence not yet returned unto the fold, my bold jurors may scold.
But upon the morrow's witching hour if lark a wise owl hath made, then,Shall I fly to the hugger-mugger embrace of your broomstick arms again.

I've been lurking on here for ages now, getting info about my first fixie, which will hopefuly be a Fuji track 2010 when ive finaly got my act together.
I'm a student from crouch end, so if anyones from round there and wants to ride let me know because i've seen a few bikes locked up round the area so its good to know im not alone and would be nice to put a face to some users and bikes. Im going to try and head down to the north drinks as soon as I get my bike, but am legaly unable to drink, so it will be a well awaited coke after the climb to the flask. Thanks,
Oliver -

Hi Tom, welcome. Check this thread for all Bournemouth/Poole related rides etc: http://www.lfgss.com/thread16062.html
Theres also a Bournemouth FG forum (linked from the home page on here). Quite a few of those guys play polo down at the Asda car park on Sundays (I think), could be worth checking out too. -

Hi all, new member here,
Been perusing for a while and decided to join.
I have a raleigh equipe that i have converted to fixed, living in Leeds, running 42x16, would like to chat and meet more like minded people, will pop some photo's up later.
Also,
I have just done a refurb project for my girlfriend, stripped down to bare metal, primed, painted and lacquered, started building it up today, just needing some 700c rims to finish it, gonna be on gears though so will need to take a cassette. If anyone has any even in not great condition that would be a massive help!
