No suggestions, but I did have a quick look on laterooms.com earlier and there were some for £40-60 for a double room. I think that would be a price worth paying after 24hrs in the saddle. I don't know about you but I'll definately be in need of a shower by the time we get there!
My french isn't good enough to call somewhere to see how happy they would be with bikes in the rooms, so I guess locks would be needed, which means more weight :(

Change of plan, I'll be coming back on the Sunday with you guys. What time train are you booked on? Also is it possible to book your bike on at the same time as booking the ticket or do you have to call up after booking the ticket?
Just booking the ferry!

Sweet! Train: Sun 15th Aug 2010 - 14:43
For the bike you will have to call up after you've booked as it's a different department.

Right then, what's the plan for departure? Leaving at 11pm local time, right? I'll be getting the train into Paddington, where/when would be good to meet you guys, Trafalgar Square?

We should meet at 10:30pm ish at the top of the steps at Trafalgar Square for a 11pm departure me thinks.

Sounds good, I'll get a train booked to arrive into Paddington around 10pm.
Are you planning on getting some food on the ferry, or waiting until we get to France where it'll be nicer and cheaper? (can you guess which I'd prefer?).
I'll have some with me but I'm thinking about the amount of water I'd have to carry and would much rather pick some up the other side, ditto for food, would rather not have to carry everything if possible. -

Food wise, I will carry it all minus the first stage perhaps as we can get food on the ferry... although not sure it's the right kind of food and I do hate queueing....

Of course there is! Maybe not on the ferry though :-)
I rekon a few hours outside of Calais... They have some nice villages.
Have you seen the weather BTW?
-
• #95
Thank god for that, I thought for a moment I was going to have to have a little cry...
Stopping in villages sounds good to me, the pastries from the little patisseries are the best!I checked yesterday, rain in Paris on Saturday but supposed to be a clear night in London.
Oh before I forget, have you looked at hostels/hotels at all? I haven't yet but will dig out some prices and addresses tonight if need be.

I've not had a proper look at hotels, I will this evening.

Been preparing food for tomorrow!
Pasta, sandwiches, cereal bars, tracker bars, muffins, haribo... :D
We've not... I was thinking about crashing somewhere in a park (first time for everything) - with backup list of hotel/Hostels just in case. However... I think we might book something.
If you have any suggestions...
