  • Liking this. So what's the first theme going to be?

  • It shows details of the digital image.

    I think that part shows the authenticity of the photo, but maybe its too technical for some?

    Some brilliant images are taken by people that are not very digitally inclined. I for one prefer
    film photography, but created this thread because of the immediacy of photos from phones.
    Do I need to go on a course to justify my image? I feel this shouldn't be necessary.

    Is there an option to this? Could we trust each other to just use mobile phones and not cheat
    by using a dedicated digital camera? I would hope so.

    Or to prove that the image hasn't just been lifted from the net.

    Maybe someone should make a photo comp too.

  • "As if......" (comedy photo)

    HTC Desire, plus crop, saturation, and added contrast.

    Example:
    EXIF IFD0

    * Camera Make = HTC
    * Camera Model = HTC Desire
    * X-Resolution = 72/1 ===> 72
    * Y-Resolution = 72/1 ===> 72
    * X/Y-Resolution Unit = inch (2)
    * Y/Cb/Cr Positioning (Subsampling) = centered / center of pixel array (1)

    EXIF Sub IFD
    EXIF Sub IFD

    * ISO Speed Ratings = 100
    * EXIF Version = 0220
    * Original Date/Time = 2010:07:31 07:38:30
    * Digitization Date/Time = 2010:07:31 07:38:30
    * Components Configuration = 0x01,0x02,0x03,0x00 / YCbCr
    * FlashPix Version = 0100
    * Colour Space = sRGB (1)
    * Image Width = 900 pixels
    * Image Height = 602 pixels

  • Funny, I'd never even thought of someone posting an image that wasn't theirs.

    How open should this competition be? Just to the people that normally participate on this thread, or to the whole forum?

    We could begin immediately, but I've got a plan I want to work on, that would offer more gratification than a verbal slap on the back.
    I need to make some calls, send some emails, and talk to some people. So maybe we could kick off in a week or a fortnight. Hope thats ok.

    Thanks Gatti for that link. Very useful.

  • Liking this. So what's the first theme going to be?

    .

  • iPhone 3GS

  • Sparky, could you edit your photo-post, and add the info there?

    Thats how people will recognise it, not when its on the following page.

  • OK so how is this for rules.

    Each competition lasts two weeks? with submissions by midnight on the last day.
    All captures must be taken within competition time period
    All submitted captures must be your own.
    Details of Phone / Megapixels / Editing must accompany the post picture. (EXIF can be used if the user knows how, but must not be disabled. )
    When submitting a photo, you must state the Theme in the title of your post.
    The competition is open to all members.

    Sound good?

  • Gatti, I asked for a couple of weeks to organise it properly. I am seeking permission from the Administrator regarding prizes and other issues. Also, if you don't mind, please delete your "theme" suggestion, as it might be taken seriously by someone. Its yet to be decided.

  • You want this:

    http://www.poladroid.net

    I really like the tint(?)/filter(?)/effect of the polandroid thing, but I don't like the low res of my HTC camera. I had a 12mp ixus compact with me but never used it, anyone know how to treat an image in pshop to get the above effects? Not to bothered about the borders, just the hue(?).

  • Took this on my Desire when I stepped out to get some coffee earlier today:

  • May i suggest a new thread for competition chatter? It's flooding the thread already.

  • it'd only get merged.

  • it'd only get merged.

  • Not sure if you're old enough to remember that actual issue of National Geographic Horatio.

    I do. Its from 1984.

    NP: Done and all yours, mine were just suggestions

  • it'd only get merged.

    Why? Competition should stand alone from everyday interest in pics taken on cameraphone - the topic of this thread. It'd only get merged if someone merged it.

    I can't quite figure out what your point is here?

    At first I thought you were insinuating that I don't know where the photograph came from (Hmmmm.... What is one of the most famous photographs ever taken, being used ironically as my own, in a discussion about people plagiarizing entries into a mobile phone competition). Then I thought it might just be a mundane comment about me actually not knowing which particular issue of NG it's from (which, I have no shame in saying, I have no clue). But that can't be the point of your comment, can it? Is it something about age?

    shrug

  • Where'd that wetlips thread go?

  • he he ...

    You should send this to Warrington Cycling Campaign:

    http://homepage.ntlworld.com/pete.meg/wcc/facility-of-the-month/index.htm

    It's pretty good.

  • Similar Portaloo placement:

    From the Warrington site mentioned above.

  • this thread got shit when it became a competition.

    keep it as it was

  • It's because I won, isn't it?

  • what about this?

  • Fuck.
