Not trying to catch you out, but have you ridden plain vs butted and could you actually feel the difference? I know butted is better given the choice but can it actually be noticed in reality?

I can certainly feel it on a steel or aluminium frame. Bikes like the Van nic mistral get great reviews for ride quality, so maybe its not so noticable with Ti. For me, the quality of a tubeset is more than just its base material. But I have no experiance to back this up regarding Ti bikes.
