I really don't get this whole "gears are the new fixed gear" thing... they're not though are they? fixed bike great for commute, a laugh or maxing training if you're short on time. Geared bikes are better for proper hilly adventures.
I've found my power and cadence improve loads from riding fixed, and it helps when I get back on my gears. I'm not going to stop riding either...
