you don't need an EEB with a derailleur so you haven't missed anything. The frame presumably has an EBB so it can be run SS or geared. Saying that, the EBB does offer some flexibility on BB height and position as a bonus!

Ok. I was just thinking that the added expense/complexity of an EBB wouldn't be worth it unless you were definitely running it SS...
