  • Velo Orange, a lots of his shiny part are from them, brilliant little company (mudguard, chainguard, bottle, bottle cage, front rack*).

  • I put velo orange 'guards on my Yates (the 37mm ones) and I bloody hate them, rattly and utter shite, frankly. There's no way a single stay on a muguard is a good idea. I'm going to adapt some good ol' plastic SKS to be direct fited instead.

  • Was it Velo Orange? I though you went for those Honjo/Gilles Berthoud mudguard.

  • Yep, VO 37mm. They are just way too flexy for me, no matter how carefully you fit them. I haven't heard the same about the Berthouds, probably should have gone for those. But I reckon SKS are more fitting, and lighter. Probably. A bit.

  • In Condor, they're selling those lovely alu mudguard in black or silver, I think they're £40 for the pair.

not sure how to explain the shape, they're 'flat' rather than rounded if that help.

Yes - I did this too. They came off again in short order, terribly noisy.

have you used the leather washers? they are supposed to reduce rattling significantly

  • I've just checked my VO mudguard package - no leather washers.

look like it's sold seperately, rat.

hopefully TFG have some lying around.

  • yep sold seperately from freshstripe

  • Just thought id show mu current project - it was a complete mess when i bought it (as you can see)

Still in a working state but im getting there, didnt want to buy a finished product so slowly building my own bike (with limited funding). Restored the existing BB,headest found an original crank

But its more about the process anyway ! taking me a long time, but getting there

Sorry about the shitty i-phone picks - all i had !

  • *squabbleism, "it looks too big for you, the saddle is too low"

  • havent yet - procured a seat post !

  • I'm sure that the diagram is illustrating what happens when you have a stuck stem, not what happens when you've installed a stem correctly.

The only way to get it stuck that far up your butt is to install it with a

  • Are you planning on running that left hand drive?

More like 135deg. It's all about getting the power down with controllable wheelspin, innit?

The berthouds are great, solid and no rattles. Was a lot of work to fit them, ie tapping the frame, but no adjustment for over 8 months and about 1mm clearance from the tyre and frame. Plus they look a million times better than the SKS, and are really no that heavy. I'd deff recommend those

They look like the salmond ones, I'm planning on buying them at some point

Almost finished the Bob. I gather these are ten a penny in London, but you don't see too many in the rural idles of Staffordshire. Opinions welcome...

  • man size bike, good work.

    Nice wheels too

  • Cheers Jammy. Are you Liverpool based? Think i may have bumped into you at the Tour De Scouse race last summer? Would have been riding an under sized Fuji Track back then though...

  • Pretty much - St Helens. I was the massive ginger guy. Probably on my (ex) Goff

Looks really tidy that, really clean and similar size to mine (HUGE! ha)

I want to strip mine and either clear coat or gunmetal grey it with red DT sticker and red lug lining.

  • Geared bike sold :( But built this in its place. I actually built the whole thing up in russel square yesterday if anyone happened to spot me. A park warden came over and asked me not to leave 'those old frames' when I was done.
