To be honest, I kind of like the Royal Inn. The food is expensive but I rarely order it. The couple of times I have, I've enjoyed it. Beer prices are a bit steep, but in a way it keeps me from staying too late and really tying one on. Although that's going pretty far out of the way to find a silver lining.
The service sucks sometimes, but I usually just make a point of saying "I believe I'm next" placing my order, and giving a hairy eyeball to whoever tried to jump in front.
I like the location and the outdoor area is great. I've never noticed the sewer smell so either I've been fortunate and missed those nights or it's been masked by the rather whiffy group of fixie-skidders congregating there.
