  • A service by a good mechanic may be a better first option.

  • Thanks. I have a service for it soon so will take then. As for the brakes , I guess I am a bit of a fuss pot, but they are black and just don't sit well with me with the rest of the groupset being Tiagra.

  • Tektro R530s are good brakes, probably better than Tiagra. Slack of them not to spec the silver option

Sticky front dérailleur could be down to poor quality or dirty cables, or poor cable routing. Make sure those are sorted before spending any money, as there is very little functional difference between any front dérailleurs.

  • is the thing circled necessary? i do not have one on either one of my bikes i guess its to protect the bb? basically do i need one does it matter?

  • its a different type of bb thats all.

  • its a different type of bb thats all.

Maybe hes riding 2piece cranks with no BB!

  • Maybe a little strange request:

Anyone know of a covert remote plug socket switch, i.e. a hidden means of turning off a mains plug socket?

Obviously there's loads of remote control plug sockets, but I need a hidden one.

  • is the thing circled necessary? i do not have one on either one of my bikes i guess its to protect the bb? basically do i need one does it matter?

it's an external bb. due to axles getting bigger (octalink, ISIS etc), and bb shells staying the same size, bearings got smaller with reduces their life. so now external bb's are made to have bigger bearings without having to invent a new bb shell size standard.

  • does it matter if my cranks arent exactly flush with my bb shell? I can see a bit of the spindle(the bit of the bb that pokes out i think its a spindle?).

  • that's how it should be. don't worry. although you can give them a little tightening if you feel like it. good idea to do from time to time.

  • You know the classic red telephone boxes, what phone company are they on?

  • bt?

  • But BT have their own special boxes.

It's a bad idea to tighten your cranks from time to time on a square tapered spindle.

  • But BT have their own special boxes.

Yes, classic red ones. They maintain a small number of them to keep the tourist's happy. There are also some black K6 boxes operated by a telco called New World

  • These are the ones I meant.

So all the red ones are BT then, thats boring, I was hoping for something like Royal Telicom.

  • Smart cars are designed for city centre use, so how come hardly anyone uses them in London?

  • What does that question mean? The vast majority of the Smart cars I see are being used in central London, but the vast majority of cars being used in central London are not Smarts. If the second statement frames your question, then the answer is that they are very expensive to buy and run considering their limited utility. Small diesel powered cars of the Citroen C1 class (most manufacturers have something similar) are cheaper to buy, achieve almost identical fuel consumption, and provide 4 seats where the Smart has only 2.

  • Mdcc_tester is your number 63336?

  • No, it's any value between 1 and 120 (150 for some Association and national championship events)

  • can you get square tapered (that fit square bb) bmx cranks for under 50 bar?

  • yes, this ones, even with the shiping they came under 50 notes
