• Hello,

forgive me if this has been asked many times before, I used the search but did not find a clear conclusion:

If you ride fixed gear in the city/in busy streets, and you want to have only one brake on your bike (apart from your legs, of course), would you put it front or back, and why?
My logic says front, as you have max brake force, and that's also what Sheldon Brown says ("There is really no need for a rear brake on a fixed-gear bicycle."), but during my research here I have seen that some people actually recommend the opposite due to handling reasons (lacking the actual explanation)?

    Cheers,
    icke
