this is the current perceived wisdom, but for me, the problem is that you don't get a full line up of the 'best in the world' at either race, because they are all focusing on the tour.
So you don't get to see how , say, contador fares against shleck or cavendish against pettachi or whatever.
plus, waay too many ities and dagoes.
did i say that last bit out loud?
