I'll be on holiday until the 9th. Would be up for a ride on Sat 14th. Newcastle would be good.
Don't think I could make Newcastle and back on my geared bike never mind fixed.

Dunno if I'd be able to do Newcastle on the 14th mick, poppa bears birthday!
BUt defo up for some longer rides on the weekends, which I'll probably be doing on the road bike rather than my bent fixed gear :P Bit uncomfortable after 20 or so miles

Nice one guys well i'll post up here any rides that i'm planning on doing and you folk can join me if you like.
-
• #107
Are you the only people/persons in NI with fixies?
-
• #108
I'm sure there are quite a few who ride fixed who aren't on this thread, cyclists have used fixed bikes for training for decades and i'm sure Belfast's cyclists are no different.
However i'm no longer in Belfast and no longer ride fixed, so my view means bugger all.

I am in Whiteabbey. Currently have a Kona Smoke 2010 and I am really looking into a single speed. I have my eyes on the Trek Soho S. I will use it mainly for commuting and exercise but I have never ridden a single speed but like the look and simplicity of it. I have been looking at the Cannondale bad boy which I know is not single speed. I was just wondering which would be faster?

Which will you be fastest on?
You need to try a few different bikes out. Try a SS, a fixed wheel, a geared commuter and a proper road bike. Do some test rides.

I still live in Belfast and ride fixed to work and back and maybe once during the week for training (40+ hilly miles).
I've never been out with any of the other guys who ride fixed in belfast but there seems to be an increasing number of them. More and more getting ridiculous dildo bars too :(
That said, I probably look ridiculous to them cycling to work in lycra even though it's only 5 mile away. Meh, it's comfier, and I dont like wearing the gooch out of my jeans anymore.
If there are still wednesday meets happening I mgiht take a trip down some time. Dont worry though, i'm sure I can throw on a pair of jeans for that :p

Sorry to resurrect this thread; but:
I just moved to Belfast got my ride sorted and some scunner's nicked it. Just to put the word out, if anyone's selling a BIG raleigh tempest frame with a sugino crankset and red/black Bonty hardcase tires on white rims they're a theiving cunt and should be strung up - if you'd let me know that'd be most helpful.Cheers.
