Did a search, apparenty they do, and Surly, apparenty do that as well.
Look like all I need to do is simply swap the hubs round without even needing new spokes.
why?
why would you want this? -

Does it really matter what Ed's bike is setup like, he will only have it for a month before changing to something else :-)
(Say he who changes bikes every month)

I am building my first fixie(I did have a langster framed fixie, but I bought that second hand off some guy), and I thought I would make a project log. I see a lot of amazing builds on here, but very little in the way of build logs etc?.
It helps me keep track of what I'm doing, and hopefully, I can get some advice from you guys in the process...correct my inevitable rookie blunders (without too much abuse :P)
Anyway, here goes:First, I bought a vintage Claud Butler road frame off fleabay...
I think it's from 1967, but its in decent shape, paintwork a bit crappy, but I'm gonna get it powdercoated anywayI decided I didn't need the pump holders, so out comes the hacksaw, files and sandpaper...
Result. I don't think it's too bad- once its painted, it won't be noticeable.
I did the same on the front one...Since armourtex don't do transfers, I thought I'd make my own...I haven't really decided how yet, but either I will paint with modelling paint etc by hand or maybe get some vinyl cut on a computer.
Anyway, I had to make copies of the decals first...
I had to fill in the bits that were damaged with a marker pen, but I think I did ok. Will decide on what exactly to do with the copy later...I've also bought some stuff:
Dura Ace track sprocket 15t
Halo aerorage wheelset
Campagnolo Record Strada 42t Crankset (from Freezing77, hopefully collect today)
Cinelli 40cm Bars (Freezing77 as well)
KMC Kool 1/8" BMX Chain
A pair of nice road forks (the Claud Butler frame came with some, but they had a ridiculous brake drop, might sell them on)
Charge spoon saddleStill to buy:
Cinelli stem
Bottom Bracket- I'm not sure what size to get...
Threaded headset
Bar tape
Pedals
Seatpost
And probs some other bits and pieces I've forgotten about...Anyone sees these in classified/ebay, please gimme a shout.
That's it for now, I'll post more when there's progress on the project...
Over and out

Fixed off road is good fun, but then so is single speed. Doesn't make much difference once you are used to it just ends up slowing you down a bit.
Not sure it would be the same on that tank you've got there though, that doesn't look like much fun off road (fixed/single or geared) to me.

Sound like the frame is design for 27" instead of 700c.

I totally bought this off Rory.
New bars are my first purchase, the ones are a wee bit narrow for my liking.
2nd thing- braze on Canti thingys
3rd thing, make it SS, not fixed.
might play some polo too.its hella fun to chuck around, and now I'm done:
1 MTB(ish) probably get a geared hardtail/ fullsus?
1 Tourer
1 Road bike.
(1 Fixed but I don't want to keep it)...someone buy it off me. -

Yeah, but I take it it will be fine if I use 700c wheels. (brake drop aside)

A Claud Butler of that vintage will have been built for 27" (ETRTO 630) wheels with 1.25" tyres and mudguard clearance, so probably 63mm or so brake drop to the original wheels. If you swap to a modern 700c (ETRTO 622) fork made for short reach brakes, say about 43mm, you're cutting something like 24mm off the axle to crown length of the fork, which means your top tube will slope down noticeably once the bike is built up, and the head and seat angles will be steepened by about 1.5deg. Aesthetically, you will also have a significant mismatch in clearances front to rear. In short, keep the stock fork and invest in one of Tektro's lovely long reach brakes. You'll even be able to use decent sized tyres and mudguards, which will make winter a much more pleasant experience.

Probably worth getting a different freewheel cogs (62GI right now) for MTBing than a fixed wheel tranmission, any advice on MTB tyres? (up to 2.35).

I was hoping that wouldn't be much of an issue. Anyway, I will keep the original forks for the moment. Then I will see once the wheels arrive. If there is a problem, I will use the original forks instead, and get some long reach brakes.

Also, anyone know where they sell those long reach calipers in the UK?

SJSC have a good range, you're likely to need these
http://www.sjscycles.co.uk/product-Tektro-Tektro-R556-Dual-Pivot-Caliper-Brake-55-73-mm-Very-Deep-Drop-Nut-Fitting-79.htm
to run 700c wheels in the stock fork. -
