Our local authority offer a subsidised pest control service for £51, so we've had them in and they've placed poison in various places. We've also identified how they're accessing the house but have been advised to wait for a couple of weeks before we block that off as that gives the poison time to take effect and will, hopefully, avoid them dying underneath the floorboards.
I fucking hate rats though, so having to cohabitat with the buggers is doing my head in, plus with the baby you don't want them around as everything she can get her hands on goes straight into her mouth at the moment.
