Is "through and off" when you pull off almost immediately when you get to the front, keeping a small group in a sort of constant rotating pattern? If so, I did a bit of this on a recent sportive with a friend and a random wheel. It was great.

Yes, also known as 'bit and bit'. Length of turn on the front varies. Some TTT squads agree a set number of pedalstrokes per turn.
