Tip that has served me well: old-fashioned lanolin-based Germolene ointment (not the cream, which is much thinner and pretty much vanishes). It contain pretty much everything you'd want to keep your bits from becoming abraded and sore (lanolin, zinc oxide, methyl salicylate etc) and is powerfully antiseptic to boot. Also cheap and readily available in any chemist.
Credit for this excellent tip goes to my training sergeant of long-ago Territorial infantry days, who told us in no uncertain terms to use it before timed marches, exercise weekends etc. Ta very much, Sgt C!

Deep Heat rubbed into your scrotum is very effective for masking all other pain.

I was once rubbing ibulieve ibuprofen gel into my hamstring and ended up getting some on my balls. Burned like a motherfucker, seriously it was so bad I cant imagine deep heat being any stronger.

Don't spend money on Assos chamois cream. Use Sudacrem instead.
You must have gallons of the stuff at the moment...

We are awash in it and baby wipes. Both of which are very useful for cyclists.

I like your style...economies of scale and all that

this thread did not make for nice breakfast reading this morning...
- 1 for the chamois cream from another hairy man though. Game changer. I've tried sudocrem but Asos is about 10x as good... If money wasn't a factor, I would buy this cream they sell in condor called 'Natures Kiss' or something, which is all natural and does have the 'oooo!' menthol-ness of assos.. but it's not very good value for money unfortunately.

fuck me. You dont need to shave. You need good hygene to keep them pesky pimples away from your butt, then go buy a giant tub of vasaline and before you go riding get a big wad of it on your hand...spread em and smear it all over the crack of your ass. It works.

So you basically have a chunk of caramel that you repeatedly peel off and reshape to stick back on?
Is it easy to tear it off quickly?
Is it advisable to use on "sensitive" parts?
Also can be eaten aftwerwards as a tasty treat, mind the stray hairs though.

Sudocrem is petroleum based, which can degrade lycra & fancy schmancy chamois pads.
Damn.

Sudacreme is marvellous AFTER a ride. Assos during; Sudacreme after. Shower before and after as well and wear properly fitting bibshorts. No pimples; no chaffing; bliss.

+1 on the Udderly ,cracking [oohh matron] stuff
In response to lynx's misguided advise - deodarant, definite no-no - talc is also nasty as the sweat [that's the stuff you get when you cycle more than 100 yards lynx] will cause the talc to compact and do nyasty things to your nethers
chaois cremes work by a, forming a barrier against the salts in your sweat that can cause irritation and infections and b, lubricates so you don't get rawness through friction

Never put anything on your clacker that you wouldn't put into your partner's mouth.

Are cyclists at a higher risk of pilonidal sinus'?
Have had to pack and dress a few of these after surgery they're rather nasty.
pft, it's over exaggerated, and a lot of body parts have fallen into disuse e.g., male nipples, appendix, my penis...
