A friend of mine was working with me as a Bike Doctor in 2005 and when he was pumping up a customers tires when one exploded and the shock made him jump about six foot back. Very funny.
I've had a middle of the night explosion, as is usual the culprit was the inner pinched between the tire and the rim. I now know the right way to mount tough tires onto deep rims using levers.
