80's Dura Ace was not flimsy in the 80's However, 30 years on and the fact that Aluminium fatigues through use means they will be a lot flimsier now. Unless they are NOS of course.
No doubt still perfectly safe really though. ANyway, what's the worst that could happen - skid up, crank snaps and goes straight through your calf!
