That loaded tourer wobble is scary.

Still have to try out loading much lower down, I think.

Pannier bag scrape on road?
-
• #31155
My Thorn does that little death-wobble sometimes, pretty hairy. I'm trying to get as much as I can on my front rack now.

this one i'm makin for my missus.
it is called nevada...some german letters and parts are on hubs.
anyone herad of it?
it will be nice <3
Oooh! That's a cool looking frame! Nicer than a normal straight-tubed mixte IMO, but lighter than a dutch-framed town bike. What are your plans for it?
-
• #31162
Well, it is a project, and it is single speed, and it is summer.
-
• #31163
I cant work that bike out but it looks cool - what size is are the wheels?

26" 32H, Mavic X517 on a specialized stout hub at the front, and a 26"/36h/46mm VIZ trial rim on a Velosteel coaster brake at the back.

so how does it feel to ride with the front end so low?
-
• #31166
Err, I've only rolled down a hill so far, no drive as of yet! The position is similar to on drops, but obviously with the seat far too low, and your hands at right angles to the frame. It's comfy!

Handlebars level with the saddle isn't a low front end. I've often thought about doing something with dual crown rigid forks and clip ons, looking good so far.

First fixed gear project.
I kind of wished I'd read more into getting a bike and the parts etc but I rode a friend's fixed gear and I really enjoyed it so I rushed getting one. Got this off of Gumtree for £75 already fixed as a true beater/pub bike. All I've changed so far was the seat which was a wreck, swapped for a Viscount seat and I put new unbranded tires on it. Obviously this needs a lot of work and I'm steadily learning what needs to be done, the next new thing it definitely needs is some handlebars, I really don't like riding with these. All I know about the bike is that it's a Tensor Panther frame.

change the pedals, get some foot retention.

it is when your leg extension looks to be around 18"! that's why asked wheels size in case it was one of those crazy 36" wheeled bikes.
proper looks ace though!

looks ace
No, they are definitely clip ons, not Ace bars ;-)

Seeing as I am a real beginner when it comes to bikes, what pedals would you reccomend? And as stupid as it may seem, can you or anyone give me a brief description of what foot retention is?
-
• #31173
Foot retention, other types are also available. -

Bahahaha, absolute win! Have to say I prefer Ace bars myself though... Well... Ace for European bikes, clip-ons for Japanese...
Maybe it helps prevent a frame twisting. Not a bad aim, I have had some problems (albeit loaded, on a tourer) with frame twist between the seat- and head-tubes.
