Ok, been to the phsyio, saw Dave Baker, he def seems to know his stuff, not that i have anything to compare with though :)
Basically i'm tight like piano wire from my chest down so need to stretch a lot more to get more mobile. My knee is fine, nothing that inflamed to talk about so can still ride but no long rides for a week or so. Also told me to use the geared bike rather than fixed.
He said my ligaments going from the hip down on the outer side of my legs and attaches to the knee (these had a name of course, but there were so many new names for stuff in my legs that it mostly went in one ear and out the other) were too tight, so were my calfs, hamstrings and so forth. So what i need is to stretch a lot more. He'll be sending me videos with exercises / stretches I can do and i'm going back in a week so he can stretch bits i can't do myself. He also did some work on my knee today which seemed to help, though it felt a lot better today compared to yesterday.
Also he advised me to get a foam roller that i can use to basically give myself a leg massage which will benefit the stretching as well.
All in, i'm very happy i went straight away, good to get a professional opinion and find out what i need to do in the future to keep my legs happy.
