26inch Trial competitions rules dictate that the bike must have a minimum of 6 gears and a seat.
24inch bikes aren't allowed for competition use but as they use a 135mm rear end it makes sense to be able to use King and Hope hubs.
Addtionally, when riding trials the wheel takes a lot of hits from angles whcih would shift a wheel in a horizontal slot, expecially when considering the amount of time balancing and landing on the back wheel. Having vertical drops means that the wheel is held in a more stable (ie less adjustable) position.
