  • Mines still running stock. No problems yet apart from like 1 force close in 4 months.

  • I was in the O2 shop and have a butcher at that, it's actually quite a nice little gadget to the point that you don't need the huge size of the iPad, this is perfect enough.

it's a bit tricky to use, but then it's probably a case of getting used to after using the iPhone.

  • my g1 is almost fucked :(
i can no longer assign tunes as ringtones (this happened a few months ago)
i can no longer download anything, or run updates on anything (even though it keeps telling me they are available)
this morning my alarm didnt go off, i woke up to a force close pop up.
then my wife rang me and it was on loud speaker and couldnt turn it off.
then it force closed on everything.
a reboot has sorted the FC issues (and hopefully my alarm will wake me tomorrow)
    still no update/ DL though

contract runs to end august too.
i want a Dell Streak, but dont wat o2 (because they pay Sean Bean and i cant endorse that)
What are the chances of it coming to a different network?

  • i'm due a T-Mobile upgrade in a couple of weeks and just started paying attention to phones for the first time in two years. how thing have changed.

could get an x10 now but might hang on for the 4G... never had an iphone and I quite fancy having a play.

  • Not sure if this has been posted yet,
    http://www.mapdroyd.com/
basically offline maps for android, uses OSM - exactly the same as Offmaps for Iphone
nice if you have no signal or maps take an age to download (something i've noticed on my nexus one)
Download all the maps you want beforehand via wifi - bobs your uncle
    free too!

Also from OSM land, opensatnav, not available on android market so you'll need to download the apk file from the site. Runs much quicker than the built in maps app IMO.
    https://launchpad.net/opensatnav

  • ^ thanks looks most useful

  • +1 I was thinking the same thing

  • i have my new nexus one waiting at home for me! how exciting!

  • Anyone with the Xperia X10, or wanting to get one, should sign up to the Facebook petition.
Then Sony Ericsson will hopefully act, and get the Froyo 2.2 update for the X10.

  • Well, like I said, the 2.1 is out sept 30th, and rumours has it that 2.2 will be out before the end of '10.
    (But I'll join the group)

  • Still waiting for my Hero's 2.1 update from T-Mobile... Apparently they started rolling these out on Friday... Anyone got theirs yet?

    Root it!!!!
    I've had 2.1 since January ish ...
(I'll leave you in peace now)

  • Slingplayer for android is finally out...works a treat on my desire....now roll on froyo!

  • I think next time I go back to Canada I'll buy a slingbox and set it up on the GF's parent's TV...

  • £20 for that?!

  • Im having problems uploading images to facebook from X10 :/ even switched my wifi to my home internet to see if that was the problem. Nope. Grr.

  • Handy when you work for a broadcaster....esp when they pay!

    £20 for that?!

  • I understand that, but it's like around 17quid for Iphone users.

  • Sling webpage says they're the same price?

  • Obviously I was looking at the wrong link. :/

  • Dialer one. Nice app that gives t9 style searching of contact's names and numbers.

    *Differences*:

Galaxy S has slightly lower screen resolution. iPhone 4 screen has higher resolution, which uses 30% more energy.
iPhone 4 has camera flash/video light. Galaxy S does not.
iPhone 4 has TV Out built in. Galaxy S has lower resolution option, via 3.5mm jack.
iPhone 4 has 850Mhz in 3G. Galaxy S does not.
Galaxy S has maximum memory of 48GB (with card+Froyo). iPhone 4 has 32GB maximum limit.
Galaxy S GPRS and EDGE are Class 12. Iphone 4 is Class 10.
iPhone 4 has sturdier feel, especially regarding the back cover. Galaxy S saves costs in this respect.
Galaxy S has Video-calling via 3G/HSDPA oe Wi-Fi. iPhone 4 only offers it via Wi-Fi.

The phones are near enough identical in ability, but Android phones are upgradeable faster than Apple phones are.
