This is the apologist stuff I was talking about. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't remember one cycling commentator or professional athlete say Cav was robbed, or that the judges made a bad call.

Not sure if people are talking at crossed purposes but the TdF incident was a case of him being robbed I think by a poor decision (joking aside I don't actually think it was Lance Armstrong with mini invisible helicopters - that only happened when David Millar broke away almost to victory the same year but his chain came off).
A lot of pros and commentators have said it was a poor decision - it only becomes apparent when you view it from above. Hushovd was coming in Cav's right -from behind- into a rapidly closing space. Cav held his line - went in straight as a die.
This time it's completely different - he cuts right across and is very much at fault. I don't think you wer acusing me of being an apologist but I think he that time he was hard done by.
