First i must publicly offer my grovelling thanks to wingedangel for helping me out here! One of the straightest trading folks on here.
As i said, most of my experience on here has been excellent. everyone who has bought from me has been a pleasur to deal with, even the buyer of a less-than-perfect bike, which was a mistake on my part.
Skully put me straight on the dibs versus pm system on my first Advert. I think public dibs keep everything open, and perpetuate the spirit of trust that makes this such a succesful forum.
That puts even more responsibility on the dibser. When you dibs, you are in apublic place, and have"spat on yourhand" in front of the forum.
If a dibser has to back out for any reason, its easy to post a follow up, cancelling the dibs due to whatever. The forum then see that you have acted properly.
If you dont follow up, the seller is quite at liberty to post "re-offered due to whatever". If you end up being named, so be it. It keeps up standards of conduct.
