I've had a look both at a GPX file and the first part of the course (up to where it joins the A3) on Google street view. As far as I can tell, the gift hill is not as steep as the Marlow bypass, so I'm hoping I won't even need the brake, as I sometimes do at Marlow if the wind is in the wrong direction.
Hillbrow to the bottom of the dip is 79m drop in the first 3.8km compared with 100m in 2.7km at Marlow, unless anybody knows different. Obviously there are some interesting junctions to negotiate at Sheet, so that should add to the fun :-)
The organiser seems to think fixed riders only real problem will be getting back to the HQ after finishing, as the elevation change has to be handled in a much shorter distance going back up.
