I will be in London in 2 weeks for work. Would be great to play a game or two. Do you all have extra mallets if I find a bike to borrow? Do you welcome outside beginners?
-

Hi eeepee,
Yep this thread is for beginners and you are very welcome to come tomorrow. I have many mallets so no problem there. People have been known to use their regular bike which is fine if it's not too precious.
Could you PM me your phone number as I like to confirm nearer the time as plans can change last minute.
Thursday 7pm Peckham Carpark level 5.

Come along to this, one and all. No better way to learn than with some quasi competetive play dashed with a fun atmosphere.

Absolutely. Will be a cracking day.
I have spare mallets if anyone needs. Also, I'm selling my old polo bike if anyone's interested.

Yeah good times. Haz is a legend, I hope he comes again. You played really well C, and Starsteez needs to get his ass down there now he owns my old bike!
Should be on for next Tuesday but will confirm nearer the time.
PM me your number if you want to come. Plenty of spare mallets for all.

2 week hiatus on the polo but hope to be back with more people in July!
Peckham CP might be out of action for a while as there's an exhibition on the rooftop which might include level 5.
I did however stumble upon an excellent outside area with walls and everything so plan to hold them here:

Let me know when it happens again, I've got the bike now, so need to get in some practice.

Nice one John!
I'm away next week but that's not to say you can't all still go? Diaplo, haz, Khornight2 and others might like to go. Crumb has been spotted with a polo steed I hear? Nice work. There's a gallery on the roof top of Peckham car park for a while which may or may not effect level 5 where we play. This will need to be checked. But I found a court here which is 2 mins away and looks perfect.

Hey, I've been meaning to pick up nike polo. Was hoping you guys could give me a link for making a mallet. Was thinking I could make one from an old golf club (using the shaft). Is this a good idea?

A few things to say in addition to the link is that you may want to recess the nut to avoid hurting others and drill some holes in the pipe to reduce weight.
As shown in the link most people use ski poles, although a golf shaft can be a good light alternative, if a bit hard to drill at times.I think there are certain types of golf club you should avoid if using it for a mallet. IMO you are better off going with 7075 aluminium ski poles.
Also, nike polo?

There's the Cycle Coo festival thing in Brockwell Park this weekend, I havent been following the thread but I think there will be opportunities there for new polo players to have a shot at it.
2 v 2 awesomeness, thanks boys.
May well be on for Thursday too...
