  • Not yet. Wheelset should be on wednesday and I should have had the crankset today. I'll try and take some pics on the way to work of how it currently is if the weather is any good.

    This one is a 57cm.

Cool, thanks, pretty sure I'm going to build one up now. At first I wasn't sure about the paint job, but it's growing on me, I like it! . Should have asked this before, but how tall are you?

  • She handles like a dream, the 853 tubing give a really responsive ride

  • nothing with zipp wheels on page 606? i am disappoint

As noted above, 606 is a hybrid wheelset, not a wheel. I'm sure somebody will come up with something appropriate in 202 pages time, by which time I'd hope that Zipp will have full carbon 808 clinchers.

  • Where?

  • Cambridge, sorry!

  • Thanks Skully, I'm not mad about the paintjob though, I was going to get a pearl white respray, yellow Cougar transfers, I've even got original factory Reynolds stickers too.
Can't afford it right now though so I'll probs just get it built.
I've also got a Mavic GP4 wheelset built on the same hubs so I can posh it up with some tubs!

This idea of white sounds great.
No offence but the current colors look like they need a limited edition rolls with a UJ.
At the risk of a stupid Q: is that a full mavic GS? Whether it is, or isn't, its awesome.

UJ is union jack right? that's exactly what I don't want :-) so no offence taken.
Saddle will be original black Flite titanium.

The group is complete except for a Mavic cassette which for practicality will be replaced with either shimano or campag (with spacer kit), I have freehub bodies for both. The correct Mavic cassettes do turn up very occasionally and they're expensive, I'm a completest obsessive, but I'm not crazy.....

The pic is of the earlier Mavic group which had Modolo brakes and freewheel hubs. I copied the layout when I took my pic cause I'm a total nerd.

  • Nice bike Gabe. I thought I was the only one that loved that On-one/P-X pink colour.

  • It's gonna be a fucking shit bike...

  • Coming from you that's a thumbs-up, Max...

  • I'll give you a 'thumbs-up' in a minute if you're not careful...

  • ^ Ew

  • these are the from the last 4 weeks,..though the lemond took ages as my mate was faffing as to what he wanted, which is all irrelevent as it got pinched 4 days after I delivered it too him,..if anyone sees it...please let me know the approx area (it was stolen in waterloo) and my friend who is rather large will try and get it back, he's not a happy man. I know the chain is horrible..I just build them! though I do get to advise...to no avail...;D

next up an easy single speed for LTR on here, has andel cranks (48/17), flite saddle, ambrosio stem, mks pedals, rides nice, looks pretty reasonable and no puppies were killed...he was riding a fucking horrible creaky hybrid, so now when he peddles, he can stop and rollll....he's over the moon..

thirdly a 50's claud butler gran sport with Gs cranks, bb, and other period bits on for a friend of aleksander on here. it would have had gs brakes...but for the brake drop...which didn't want to play, so it had centre pulls which look good with the drop (thanks to Retro di corsa for last minute brake spares!!). As she is little I geared it really low (42/20) and found a beautiful 50's regina freewheel, with really loud ratchets and springs so sounded lush. its reasonably small though tracked like it was on rails, a really lovely ride.

this week is condor...it came with a dura ace headset (needed grease and balls) the njs 7400 bottom bracket had been fitted without the plastic sleeve, so was seized with rusty dead races and chewed bearings, the shaft also as pitted as fuck...wihch was a shaaamme..looked healthy from outside...oh well, it now has ultegra cups and a sugino strong 103 shaft.
and can't wait to finish it...it will be wearing some not soo nice components as she gathers more money/momentum, though so far it has nitto risers and stem, zenith cranks and will be rideable tmorrow, though i going for a spin tonight, its a nice frame.

  • Congratulations. :-)

    When's the due date?

thanks. july 22. i hope to be ready to face the challenge a few weeks later.

  • At least you should be able to catch most of the tour.

  • Picked this up earlier today along with a Raleigh Dynatec that had been snapped but got some beater parts off of it, either way two bikes in one day is a plus as far as im concerned :)

  • That peugeot look pretty good, doesn't look like those cheaper model with simplex gearing and the like.

  • You sure you know how to put all the bits together, Joe?

  • Repped...

  • no pink?

other than giving it a good clean up the only things i want to change are the brakes+ the tires and bar tape will need replacing.

the gearing is made by SImplex ? it shifts pretty fast without any excessive noise.

  • Its terrific that you've laid it out like that.
I'm extremely envious of those components you have. Magnificent really.
