  • just after a bit of refurb. advice... recently drilled the rivets out of the headbadge on my viking project in order to get it sprayed. I need to re-rivet it to attatch it however have no equipment or knowledge in order to do this. Does anyone have any advice?
    cheers

  • just built a fixed touring wheelset for the pompino

36h a319 mavic rims, db spokes, zenith hubs, randos

  • started the bike for my lady project, based on a pretty darn rare f&f methinks.

must be careful not to cut my fingers on the seatpost lug... once I find a 4.5mm allen key (and a 7mm for the stem, and a French crank pulling device, sigh...)

anyone ever seen a seatpost like this one btw?

  • Hey everyone this is my first fixed build
Its a Bob Jackson that had been part ex'ed at my lbs so i got it for a good price, my friend ricky(Feather Cycles)then replaced the dropouts for track ends, most of the rest of the parts came on the bike apart from the saddle, post and pedals which i bought from the forum and i recently converted from single speed to fixed using a wheel i bought from a friend(thats why the rear wheel does not match the rest of the bike)
let me know what ya think!(probs anti porn hahaha)
    cheers
    Adam

Oddly enough, we don't see a whole lot of Argentinian cycle components over here. Can't think why not. Oh yeah, France, Italy and Spain are about 5000 miles closer. That must be it.

helpful, thanks. and you're probably right about distance being a criterium, japan's at spitting distance ;)

    velobase has only these http://www.velobase.com/ListComponents.aspx?SearchID=07b737fc-1be9-4c58-92f7-acb77424f551

Ho ho. This should be good.

  • cheers, think it'll be better when i get a flite and sort that stem out :)

GT looks great .. and another vote for leaving the stem and getting a Syncros seat post! no comment on the saddle that's down to what suits you in my opnion

Albert Eisentraut is one of finest builders in the US who most cyclists have never heard of.

    Awesome and innovative frames.

Any idea how yours came to the Netherlands?

    Great find!

  • Nice naked frame, deep rimmed silver wheels, dura ace group...mate you need to get your own ideas going, fair play though it only took you a day.

Seriously though it looks fucking sweet but the stem is weird, imo the rise ruins it in a swiped from some Spesh hybrid kind of way.

    I prefer Jamal.

  • I was told that the original owner was a US airforce employee at the Dutch airbase Soesterberg, who brought it with him.

He must have either been very attached to his bike or thought that fine bikes would be hard to find in the NL.

Frame is dated 1972 and came with mostly Campagnolo NR, and the dreaded ;) TA crankset

A criterium (or kermesse) is usually run on a short course.

    What tyres are they btw?

  • Look like Vittoria Rally tubs to me.

I am pretty sure that a GT Edge Titanium frame is stock like that - i wouldnt say its an unoriginal build, more like how the bikes supposed to look. Also pretty sure that stem came on the original factory build

  • I don't really care where the bike came from originally ... I was making a point ... no more studio shot. It is becoming America's Next Top model on here not about bikes and riding. I keep on seeing almost professional looking pics of a bike, when it is just a bike. This shit ain't fashion for me ... it is a big part of my life and I am fed up of it becoming fashion.

Oh and you can cop out of an argument by saying you don't want to say no more ... that is fine .. but at the end of the day you still copped out.

I have to comment, there are a lot of very creative people that build bikes, that can also mean that you have very useful creative friends...that do a myriad of cool 'shit' like vinyl cutting, sandblasting, welding, painting, upholstery, with access to places like 'studios' that aren't some fucking tiny room with a sink...but actual studios...for taking pictures in...like big empty rooms... that people live in ...

    like in the real world...

I'm taking this tone as you took it with someone else...for no apparent reason than appearing to be rude.....

some people...think nothing of spending 'this much' on some wheels...They live in nice places and rather than hang stupid fucking generic Ikea posters on the wall...

    they hang bikes...

It is different for some people...

And if you aren't 'having any of it'...

    then neither am I.

Cut your fucking whinging for gods sake...? What is wrong with someone thats a pro photo person that happens to be a friend of someone that restores bikes for a living...or all consuming 'hobby'...

They talk, it happens...good pictures are the result...or...have you seen how hard it is to take a bad photo with a 10 million pixel camera? some do...though spend an hour fucking with the settings and you're the next david bailey...(imagine that being said in a michael caine voice and you get the picture...pun intended...wink at the camera...)

appreciate them for being aesthetically pleasing as opposed to lots of fucking horrible snaps of shitty bikes with colour coded tyres, rather this than that...ffs sake anything but a planet filled with pastel bikes with matching tyres...god help us.

Sorry did I come across as rude? It's a big part of lots of peoples lives...though to freak out over a photo that isn't crappy...is beneath you...you are better than that...will you still be riding gears in 10 years...yes...fixed...yes...

    so don't stress ok?

Always fun back in the days my father rode them. Same meaning in my native language. But it's also the singular of this latin word in yours, that was my confusion probably.

Thanks for pointing it out, I like learning about languages as much as I like bikes

  • The singular of criteria is criterion, hence my piss taking over your (common) malapropism.
