I used to know someone called Flickwg from London.. no idea what happened to him though.
Up for a ride like this.
Saturday 26th of June
Saturday 10th of July? There is a local sportive on the 4th.. so i don't think i can managed a ride on the saturday as well.
There and train back? 60miles give or take. All depending if we take the coastal scenic or the quick A27 shadow.

i've riden the coast road back from portsmouth to brighton and though better than the a27 it's not much, prob worth looking into some nice country roads
loving the idea though

Sounding good then. Look forward to it.

I'm interested, if I'm about! Will confirm depending on date!
-
• #9
Depends on the date for me. But in theory I'm on it.
It could be the first proper outing of my new frame (One which actually fits me!).

Ok.. 26th of June good with everyone?
The only way it will happen is if we set a date now.9am Meet for a 9-30am Start
Outside the Brighton Pier (the one that isn't burnt down)Route to be decided over the next week or so.
But should be no more than around 60miles. Which is easily do able fixed. Trying to take the country roads which shadow the A27.Hopefully get to Portsmouth at around 4pm. Around 4 hours riding time.
This is not a training ride. It will be casual pace. Averaging around 12-15mphThe train back from Portsmouth to Brighton takes 1hr 20min. And costs about £13.90 for a single adult. Maybe more if bought on the day.

i agree with the date, maybe start a little earlier, if people want to ride back as well?
Also the train can usually be got for cheaper if you get a group ticket back
-
• #12
Date should be good for me. Happy with the 9am start. Don't think i'll fancy the ride back!
Looking forward to it.

• #13
depends if I can finish my holdsworth for the occasion but I'd be keen
-
• #14
me and marshalarts rode Chichester to Brighton last summer, easy enough ride, took 3 hours with a stop in littlehampton,
though i made us avoid the a27 as much as possible on that route as its full of fucking massive trucks
-
• #15
i'm relatively new to this, but i'd be up for it - it's the week after london to brighton, so should be feeling fighting fit
-
• #16
Seb.. how about changing the initial post and adding in some deets?
-
• #17
will do
-
• #18
unless I have a gig, im in. I rode the south downs way SS. the road should be a breeze... right?
-
• #19
Have we got enough people up for this to make it a go-er? I've been training myself to ride fixed for the last 2 weeks and it's working, i'm getting there...
-
• #20
definitely a go-er.
Looking forward to it.
-
• #21
Working so I'm out.
-
• #22
maaaaaaaaaaaybe
-
• #23
Is going to be a good ride. Even without the numbers.
Im hoping Seb as a route...
-
• #24
bump
Ok..
everyone needs to bring a spare tube x 2. pump. hex keys and spanner. basic tool kit that you should have with you all the time.a brake would be nice. you are slower without one.
wear clothes you are comfortable in over a long distance. skinny jeans aren't that great over this distance.
seb..? route?
who else is in?

Sorry I'm out now...no funds til after the weekend...
--- UPDATE ---
The date for the ride is 2010-06-26
The meet time will be 9:00am for 9:15am start.
If we know who is going we should be able to book a group train ticket and it should be cheap.
Here is the idea, we try to get a large group to all ride their fixed gears to Portsmouth.
This probably won't be for a while and it would be a good opportunity to promote the forum and bring new rider to it.
It will be at the weekend, most rides are on Saturday, so this is the initial plan, so a saturday in the near future
if you like the idea write your name on the list
