For those with the time, here is Greg LeMond speaking at the "Play the Game" conference - it is 45 minutes longe, but worth it for those with an interest.

In a sport full of cheats, Armstrong is king.
Not much to shout about really. -

No probs, but i do think your views on Lance are pretty blinkered - i loved watching him race in his pomp, like the clip you posted, i just think hes a fraud, and by all accounts, a cunt
A fraud... Who wasn't?
A cunt... I don't think anyone could achieve what he did without being a royal cunt.

That is an alpha male putting a little runt down without having to flex any muscle power at all.
a man rather than a lost boy.
the guy was a tough champion, a winner. two guys have a squabble and the toughest one wins out... I hear the needlework association in kent is all nice and polite :D

did you read it though?
i work in a nursery school in east london. we are part funded by lance to spot children with potential cycling talent and then test them to see how responsive they are to certain under the counter drugs. obviously their parents are informed before hand but we find that poor families are very receptive to financial sweetners and if all else fails an intimidating phone call from the man himself usually means we get what we want in the end.

clintsmoker, I notice in none of your posts you deny that Lance doped. He doped and lied about it. That's what annoys people. Nothing to do with alpha male blah blah..

of course i don't deny it. but then my opinion isn't going to be cross examined in court. your proof that he cheated wouldn't stand up in court.
actually if you read properly you'll see that what upsets most people on here is not only the fact that he might have doped but also many facets of his personality including his bullying. all this is based on what is tantamount to gossip. but it's all academic anyways, i mean it hardly matters right? if he is found out to be a cheating liar i'll probably still like him just as i'd still support west brom if they won something important and it turned out they cheated to do it. i suppose there comes a point when it is too farcical but seeing how cycling is basically the history of cheating and drugs then if lance was on drugs it's hardly farce, more like levelling the playing field. as far as i'm concerned sport is theatre and lance was pure theatre. -

Well an interesting part of Armstrong's story is that he used to sue anyone who dared suggest he doped; until the results of the 99 EPO test were revealed. Then, even though he had retired and presumably had more time and more money than ever before, he chose not to involve his lawyers. Possibly because for once it wasn't just his word against someone else's? Because he knew that his risible attempts to discredit the test results wouldn't stand up in court?
As someone noted above Armstrong's cheating is especially vile because he uses his 'achievements' to inspire and give hope to people with cancer: basically he looks dying people in the eye and lies to them. Lying to your fans is one thing; what he does is something else entirely. For me, no amount of money that is raised by the Livestrong foundation can justify that.
each time you've had to take those cycling posters down off your wall and put them in the bin the anger must have just swelled up. ;)
